Becoming a MN Soybean Research & Promotion Council Board Member
The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council (MSR&PC) is looking for candidates to run for a position on their board. Quite simply soybean farmers in Minnesota elect other soybean farmers to oversee how check-off dollars are invested to benefit all soybean farmers in Minnesota! The soybean check-off has guidelines set by Congress that check-off funds can only be used for research, education and promotion. In addition the books are audited by the USDA to make sure the funds are allocated properly. Finally the elections are done by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
Research, education and promotion are very broad areas and that is where it is important to have soybean farmer leadership. Should a project be funded to help soybean farmers manage soybean aphids? Maybe there is a new disease or pest that soybean farmers need to know more about or develop a market overseas for soybean meal or soybean oil? Maybe it is a promising new use for soybeans that could be funded?
If you are a soybean farmer and would like more information on serving a 3 year term on the MSR&PC board of directors go to their website. Interested candidates must have their candidate certification form and biography form submitted to the Minnesota Soybean office no later than January 24, 2022.
