McKayla Armbruster, 2019 Faribault High School graduate, is having an very impressive junior season for the Minnesota State University Mavericks fastpitch softball team.

The regular season ended for the Mavericks over the weekend.  They have a 31-17 record with Armbruster sporting a 21-8 mark.

The right-handed Armbruster has an Earned Run Average of 1.62, allowed 148 hits in 177 innings pitched with 3 saves, 197 strikeouts, 29 walks, 7 hit batters.  Opponents are batting .220 against the top pitcher for MSU-Mankato.

Armbruster leads the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (16 teams) in virtually all the pitching categories.  Lowest ERA, most strikeouts, most innings pitched.  She is the only pitcher in the conference with over 20 wins.

One of the more impressive statistics in my mind is no wild pitches.  Not one the entire season is an amazing feat when you consider every other pitcher on the Mavericks team has at least 1.  Their opponents have 26.

51 of Armbruster's 197 strikeouts have been looking.

Augustana the regular season conference champions (third straight season) and University Minnesota Duluth are the top two seeds in the postseason tournament which is May 3-6, 2023 in Rochester, Mn.

The Mavericks open in the ten team double-elimination tournament Wednesday against St. Cloud State at Noon.
