The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will be mailing letters in December with survey codes to all U.S. Farmers who certified organic farming in the 2017 Census of Agriculture. The 2019 Organic Survey is for farmers that are certified or transitioning to organic farming. The survey code in the letter can be used to fill out the 2019 Organic Survey online. The 2019 Organic Survey will expand on the 2017 Census of Agriculture by looking a many other aspects of organic farming including marketing practices, income, expenses, production and others.

Farmers that receive the 2019 Organic Survey are required by Federal Law to respond to the survey. There is also a Federal Law which requires NASS to keep all individual information confidential. NASS cannot sell or share the information with marketers or others trying to profit from this information. All surveys must be filled out by January 10, 2020. The results of the 2019 Organic Survey will be available in October 2020. For more information go to the web site: www.nass.usde.gov/AgCensus.
