Some people will say that records are meant to be broken. This record, however, most would gladly wait another 146 years before we come close to it. The National Weather Service tweeted out this morning that the Minneapolis/St. Paul tied the record low for the 3rd day of March at -13.

Throw in the windchill factors to go along with the well below zero temps and people can get frostbite in as little as 30 minutes. Our area saw windchills between -36 and -37 earlier this morning according to

The cold will linger through the early part of the week as the National Weather Service has also put out a Wind Chill Advisory for Rice, Steele, and Le Sueur counties tonight.

"Dangerous wind chills of 25 below zero to 35 below zero will persist into Monday morning. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for all of central and southern Minnesota through west central Wisconsin for the rest of today
through Monday morning. Dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and bring warm clothes with you when traveling in case you get stranded. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken." - National Weather Service

Of course, once we warm up to normal March temps, think mid-March at this point, there is the worry of flooding due to all the snow that we have received.
