125 Years of History in North Morristown

Yesterday, our nation celebrated its independence. Every year, people throw on red, white and blue outfits and take a moment to enjoy summer and reflect on what it means to be American.

One of my traditions for that day is to take the short drive and check out Minnesota’s oldest Fourth of July celebration held in North Morristown. This year marked 125 years of the North Morristown festivities. There is a charming parade where listeners may have seen our very own Jerry Groskreutz waving from his John Deere tractor. Each year there is also a patriotic program where I spotted KDHL News Director Gordy Kosfeld.

I strolled through the silent auction, chatted with friends, and listened to the bands. The weather was perfect, and as always, the North Morristown celebration was a greatway to celebrate, and a tradition that I love. Its such a peaceful, relaxed, and respectful celebration.

This year's entertainment included the Larry Stevenson Band, Monroe Crossing, Potluck String Band, Jolly Huntsman Band, and Downtown Sound. There was also a medallion hunt, horseshoes, and bingo, refreshments, and a great fireworks show.
