Waterville-Elysian-Morristown won its 12th straight match while sweeping Janesville-Waldolf-Pemberton in the Section 2A, South Subsection quarterfinals Thursday in Waterville.

Playing as a top seed for the first time, the Buccaneers eliminated their former conference rivals from the playoffs 25-17, 25-17, 25-20. WEM (28-3) advances to the subsection semifinals to play No. 5 seed Alden-Conger (16-9) Monday night at 6PM at Mankato West High School.

JWP kept each set close early. In the opener, the teams went back and forth and were tied at 15-15. WEM coach Crystal Lamont used a timeout and the Bucs went on a 10-2 run to close out the set 25-17.

WEM jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second set, but Bulldogs coach Krista Conlon used a timeout and JWP battled back to within 11-10. WEM went on a 9-3 run on the way to a 25-17 victory.

The Bulldogs had a short-lived 7-5 lead in the third set and stayed close to the end.

The Bucs were led by Kamryn Kendall and Kate Masberg, who each had about 10 kills. Erika Olson was right behind them. Haley Domonoski and RaeAhna Harmon each had about five kills. Masberg added some spectacular digs.
