Walking outside this afternoon it sure did not feel like December 7. In fact, just last Wednesday the Co-op finished applying my anhydrous ammonia. It was wet and slimy on the soil surface but it got down well below 32 degrees Tuesday night. When it gets cold the soil surface seems to freeze dry and then you can get traction. The point is if you had plowing or disk ripping to finish, you could likely to get it done. I can only remember one other time that I did some tillage in December. While most of us are happy with this warm weather many others are not.

When you think about it, farming is not the only the only profession dependent on the weather. I am sure business that rely on ice fishing are not doing too well this year, or selling snowmobiles either. Snow removal business have not had a lot of work lately either. I would be very happy with normal weather every day and I am certain many other people would be happy, too. However in Minnesota normal many times seems the average of the extreme.
