Third District Legion Division II Champ is Plato

Plato captured the Third District Legion Division II Tournament crown Sunday evening with a 3-2 win over Giant Valley in Cannon Falls.  Earlier in the day Pine Island led most of the way, but simply ran out of pitching while succumbing to Giant Valley.  Plato advances to State Tournament in Luverne and plays Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 9:30 Friday morning.  Plato was the Division II 2012 State Champion.  The team consists of players from Glencoe-Silver Lake and Plato.  Pine Island nearly did something no team has ever done.  Come all the way back through the elimination bracket to win the tournament.  They fell in their first game to Plato and avenged that loss this past Saturday, but couldn't get by Giant Valley (Minnehaha Academy of Minneapolis) for another shot at Plato.
