Two more Division II American Legion baseball teams saw their seasons come to an end Friday night at John Burch Park in Cannon Falls.  One of those teams was Cannon Falls, falling to Norwood-Young America 15-7.  It was a seesaw game with a two run homer by Hunter Blakeslee on a full count with two out in the bottom of the fifth inning tying the game, but NYA had an answer getting the lead-off man on in the 6th and taking a 6-5 lead before erupting for 9 runs in the top of the 7th.  Both teams starting pitchers were knocked out and Cannon Falls saw three pitchers take the hill in the final inning before finally ending the NYA onslaught.  In the other game defending District Champion Pine Island bested Holy Family 6-2 thanks to a 5 run top of the 5th inning.  Saturday Pine Island plays Belle Plaine at Frank Hawks Field at Cannon Falls High school at 11:30am and I'll be on the PA for that.  At 11AM at John Burch Park Norwood out of League E tangles with League A's  Sibley East.  The winner's bracket game at John Burch Park is 1:30pm between League E's Plato and Giant Valley which is Minnehaha Academy and is in it's first year in the Third District Division II Tourney.  After the Pine Island game Cannon Falls new Mayo hospital celebrated their opening with an impressive fireworks display shooting over John Burch Park. The Tournament is now down to six teams.

This pic reminds me of The Natural starring Robert Redford.
