The Minnesota girls and boys State Track and Field meet runs Friday and Saturday at Hamline University in St. Paul.

A number of area athletes will be participating, including Faribault High School sophomore Tate Olson in the Class AA pole vault and Bethlehem Academy senior Drew Bush in the Class A 800-meter run.

Kenyon-Wanamingo sophomore Mara Quam will compete in three events, the long jump, triple jump and 100-meter hurdles in Class A. Fellow Knights Caleb Greseth and Mason Stevenson also will compete, Greseth in the 110 meter hurdles and Stevenson the 300 meter hurdles in Class A boys competition.

Other area girls competing at Hamline include Waterville-Elysian-Morristown junior Tierney Winter  in the 1,600-meter run and teammate sophomore Samantha Petry in the pole vault. Petry is one of six athletes to vault over 10 feet, 2 inches, the high going into the state meet. Byron eighth-grader Taylor Kreitinger will participate in the 1,600-meter and 800-meter runs and teammate freshman Emma Weatherly  is in the long jump, 100- and 300-meter hurdles, sophomore Hannah Coleman qualified in the pole vault.

Senior Maddie Lindhart of Zumbrota-Mazeppa has the state's top throw in the shot put heading into the meet and the fourth-best throw in the discus. Senior Taylor Hagen of Blooming Prairie is also in the shot put competition. Tri-City United eighth-grader Jaylee Hanvelt qualified in the 3,200-meter run and fellow Titan junior Kristi Frederick is in the 300-meter hurdles. Le Sueur-Henderson senior Kayla Stowell will run the 200- and 100-meter dashes.

Lake City is in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter relays, Le Sueur-Henderson the 200-meter relay and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is in the the 4x100.

In addition to the K-W competitors, Class A boys area qualifiers include: Triton sophomore Leif Bungum and Pine Island junior Kyle Groven in the 100-meter dash. They are joined by Lake City senior Easton Cox. Pine Island senior Ben Farrell is in the 200-meter dash and Groven the 400-meter dash. Panther junior Mitchel Acker  is in the 800-meter run and senior Christopher Frick the long jump. Hayfield senior Cody Carpentier will be in the shot put and discus throws. Carpentier has the third-longest throw in the discus and is in the top seven in the shot put. Tri-City United senior Kelly Nordline competes in the triple jump and teammate junior Thomas Franek is in the pole vault. Senior Alex Haas of Le Sueur-Henderson is in the 110-meter hurdles.

In the relays, Rochester Lourdes and Pine Island are in the 4x800. Lake City is in the 4x100 and 4x200. Pine Island is also in the 200-meter relay. Lake City junior Matt Kjos is also in the high jump.

In Class AA girls, Lakeville South senior Caraline Slattery and junior Jocie Johnson compete in the 300-meter hurdles, senior Kaytlyn Larson is in the 800-meter run. Slattery is also in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump and Johnson the high jump. Senior Kacy Rodamaker participates in the 100-meter dash. Junior Haley Lubow and sophomore Jenny Moser are in the 400-meter dash field.

Lakeville North is well represented with sophomore Temi Carda in the long jump; sophomore Madeline Moorhouse participates in the shot put. Northfield senior Alexis Kiefer is tied for the top height in the pole vault entering this weekend and Farmington eighth-grader Lauren Petersen qualified in the 1,600-meter run.

In relay competition, Lakeville South, New Prague and Red Wing are in the 4x800, Lakeville South and Lakeville North battle in the 4x400, Lakeville South and Mankato West are in the 4x200 and Lakeville North and Lakeville South are also in the 4x100 relay field.

In Class AA boys, Lakeville South is represented by senior Grant Mosser in the long jump, 300- and 110-meter hurdles, senior Josh Corcoran in the shot put and discus, and junior Joe Martin in the discus. Lakeville North sophomore Evan El-Halawani is in the 300-meter hurdles, junior Kyle Meyer participates in the pole vault with the second-best vault so far this season and junior Gandi Kelly is in the 100-meter dash. Owatonna junior Jacob Johnson takes a good best time into the 110-meter hurdles, and senior Matt Kingland has one of the top three high jumps heading into state.

In the relays, Mankato West is in the 100-meter with Lakeville North and Rochester John Marshall. Farmington, Rochester Century and Mankato East qualified in the 200. Mankato East and Farmington are in the 400 and Farmington, Lakeville South and Rosemount participate in the 800-meter relay.

Senior Matt Ferrie of Lakeville South is in wheelchair competition in the 100- and 200-meter runs, shot put and discus.
