Faribault police issued a news release today reporting officers from their department and the Rice County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 800 block of Spring Road on Sunday at 5:38PM for a reported assault.

Responding officers encountered several people in the area, and found a 21-year-old male with several stab wounds to his torso and arms. The victim was able to identify a suspect to officers. He was transported to District One Hospital in Faribault and then was airlifted to a metro area trauma center. The news release says he has since been released.

The suspect, a 24-year-old male, was at the scene and told officers he had been verbally threatened by the victim, and the authorities say he admitted to stabbing the victim. The suspect was arrested and then jailed.

Officers recovered two kitchen knives in the area of the assault and detectives continue to identify other people who may have been involved.

The news release quotes Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen commending officers for, "a quick response and thorough investigation, which helped the victim receive medical care, apprehend a suspect and recover vital evidence."
