We will get details about the June 12 concert at St. Patrick's Church in Shieldsville on today's AM Minnesota program.

Choir director Cindy McCormick is retiring and moving to Duluth with her family.

McCormick is not just musically gifted but was named the Independent Bus Association Bus Driver of the Year. We will touch on that also.

Denis Haaland will be joining Cindy on the program.

St. Patrick's has been famous in this area for their musical programs.

I know we've had the ladies choir and kids choir perform during the Rice County Relay for Life in the past, and they always do an awesome job.

The St. Patrick's Church in Shieldsville is the second-oldest Irish Catholic parish in Minnesota.

Gen. James Shields founded the settlement of Shieldsville in the 1850s. A church was build in 1856 for $800. In 1880, a new stone church was built for $16,000.

On July 29, 2002, lightning struck and the church was destroyed. Determined members of the parish rebuilt and the present church was dedicated August 1, 2004.

I hope you can tune in at 9:30AM.
