A number of wrestling teams from Southeast Minnesota did well in tournaments over the holidays.

Some individual milestones were also achieved.  Jack Krier, senior, Zumbrota-Mazeppa notched his 125th win.

Noah Schaefer, sophomore, Z-M earned his 75th victory.

Jent Boyer, sophomore, Zumbrota-Mazeppa achieved his 50th win with his 25th pin.

The Cougars finished second at the Bi-State Classic in Division 2 with 205 points Luxembourg-Casco, Wisconsin had 247 points for first place in the division.

Caledonia/Houston was 9th (109.5), Cannon Falls/Randolph, 11th (92.5).

Chatfield won Division 3 with 291.5 ahead of Lacrosse Aquinas with 270.  Goodhue placed 6th (121.0).

Hastings won Division 1 with 205 points compared to Marshfield, Wisconsin with 191.

There were 26 teams in Division1, 28 teams in Division 2 and 18 teams competing in Division 3.

Individually Sam Moore, freshman of Z-M was 4th at 106 pounds.   Lucas Erickson, junior, Goodhue placed 8th.  Jameson Priebe, , 8th grade,  Chatfield 10th.  Aiden Burns, sophomore, Caledonia/Houston, 11th.

At 113 Javier Berg of Chatfield, junior, placed second.  Jent Beyer, 10th, was 4th.  Adam Parish, 9th grade, Cannon Falls/Randolph finished 9th.

At 126 pounds, Calvin Singewald, senior, Cannon Falls/Randolph was 4th.

At 132 Jack Krier, senior, Z-M was second.  Gage Bartels , senior, Chatfield placed 7th.

138 pounds, Alden Pearson, junior, Chatfield, 11th.

144 pounds, Owen Denstad, senior, Caledonia/Houston was first

150 pounds, Carson Rowland, junior, Chatfield, 5th place, Isaac Blocker, senior, Caledonia/Houston 10th and Laiken Copeman, senior, Z-M was 11th place.

157 pounds, Kaleb Lochner, senior, Z-M, 4th place

165 pounds, Ayden Mineer, junior, Chatfield, 4th place.  Camdyn Abnderson, senior, Lewiston-Altura/Rushford Peterson, 11th place.

190 pounds, Kail Schott, senior, Chatfield, 4th place.  Grant Reed, senior, Goodhue, 11th place.

215 pounds, Caleb Kurtti, junior, Goodhue 4th place.

285 pounds, Miles Mulhern, senior, Chatfield, 11th. Jack Carlson, sophomore, Goodhue, 12th place.

Rogers Holiday Matness was won by St. Michael/Albnertville with 254 points with the next closest Scott West with 153 points, Dover-Eyota was 3rd with 134.

In the Rumble on the Red, Mounds View had 177 points to win with Shakopee second with 166 points.  Albert Lea Area placed 3rd with 105.  New Prague, 17th, Northfield, 21st, Tri-City United 49th, Pin Island 51st, Mankato West 54th, Byron 59th.

107 pounds, Caley Graber, sophomore, Northfield was 2nd.  Grady Connelly, freshman, New Prague, 8th.

114 pounds, Ryan Collins, freshman, Albert Lea, 6th.

121 pounds, Lawson Eller, junior, New Prague, 1st Place.

127 pounds, Logan Davis, junior, Albert Lea, 2nd place

133 pounds, Michael Olson, senior,  Albert Lea, 1st place

139 pounds, Zane Engels, freshman, Northfield, 4th place

145 pounds, Nick Korman, junior, Albert lea, 4th place

172 pounds, Brady Westall, senior, New Prague, 4th place.

Eau Claire Holiday Duals were captured by Simley with Kenyon-Wanamingo finishing third, Westfield (Hayfield/Blooming Prairie)  was 12th out of the 20 teams competing.

K-W defeated Whitehall 82-0 with 6 points recorded at 13 of the 14 weights either by fall or forfeit.  Landon Trump, 132 pounds had the fastest fall, 22 seconds.

The Knights also dominated Eau Claire North 73-6 with 7 more pins.  Jaedin Johnson recorded the fastest at 170 pounds with a 65 second fall.

K-W also downed Maple Grove 57-22.  Johnson wrestled at 182 pounds and again achieved the fastest fall in 45 seconds.

In the Championship Semifinals Simley downed Kenyon-Wanamingo 51-12 then breezed by Cambridge-Isanti 59-13 for the title.

K-W  in 3rd place match defeated Rocori 54-22 .  Gavin Johnson recorded the fastest pin at 138 pounds in 9 seconds.

UFO Sightings Reported in Minnesota in 2023

A total of 45 sightings have been reported via the National UFO Reporting Center across the state of Minnesota in 2023, including Duluth, Minneapolis, St. Cloud, Rochester, Bemidji, Two Harbors, and elsewhere around the state. Here is a rundown of each sighting.
