Rochester Teen Accused of Being Involved in Shooting of Zumbrota Man
Red Wing, MN (KROC AM News) - It appears a shooting in Zumbrota Monday night was the result of an attempted robbery of marijuana.
Criminal charges have now been filed against three teenagers and one adult.
The complaint says 18-year-old Payton Koob and another woman were at a man’s residence to buy some marijuana when three males showed up and apparently tried taking the seller’s pot. He chased them outside and got into a fight with one of them. During the struggle, the man was shot in the arm. The three males and two women fled but were later apprehended.
Koob is now charged with being involved in the attempted robbery as are 20-year-old Shun Johnson and 18-year-old Elliot Jackson, both of Rochester.
Also charged in the case is 17-year-old Dantel Ruth. The criminal complaint against him indicates he was the one who had the gun. It's not known if he fired the shot or if the gun went off during the struggle. It also says the victim’s driver’s license was found in Ruth’s possession.
