The soon to be Rice County Fair will be the topic on today's AM Minnesota. Secretary John Dvorak will be in studio to update the final plans for the 2015 Rice County Fair. Even though it might be final plans, the fair is still more than one month away. Fair board members actually begin planning for the next fair even before the current fair has ended! Last week Dvorak talked about all the inspections that are done to make sure the fair is safe. Electrical inspections for all the exhibitors and venders, the Minnesota Department of Health inspection of all the food booths, and finally the inspection of all the rides with the carnival.

The other concern is with all the animals at the fair. Of course we all know there will be no poultry at any fair this summer because of the bird flu. There is also the concern about certain strains of E. coli bacteria. In addition to Dvorak, we will also be able to talk today with Carrie Klumb from the Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center.
