Mark your calendars for Rice and Steele County Crops Day on Wednesday, February 24, in the 4-H Building on the Rice County Fairgrounds in Faribault. KDHL and KRFO in Owatonna have teamed up with the University of Minnesota Extension Service to put on the program. Registration with coffee and rolls is at 8:30AM, the program starts at 9AM and you are on your way home at 2:30PM. The lunch will be catered by CashWise foods. There is no charge and you do not have to preregister thanks to great sponsors like Genesis in Morristown, Nerstrand Agricenter, Craig Keller Insurance Agency in Nerstrand and AgroConnor in Morristown.

Speakers include Travis Hirman from the Rice County SWCD with a buffer strip update; Ryan Miller, crops extension educator, will discuss what's new in the world of plant diseases and seed treatments; Jeff Vetsch, soil scientist from SROC will talk about P and K fertilization; Lisa Behnken, crops extension educator will tackle weed management, it's not simple anymore; and finally Gordon Kralovetz from Chido Commodities will talk markets. If you have listened to Gordy on KDHL but have never met him, here is your opportunity! While the program is called Rice and Steele County Crops Day, everyone is welcome no matter where you call home!
