The Pine Island Panther boys basketball team took a 14-point lead at the half and turned it into a 75-41 win over Kenyon-Wanamingo on Tuesday night.

There was a good crowd in the Castle at Kenyon-Wanamingo High School.

Five-foot-10 junior guard Camden Heepke hit five three-pointers for 19 points and 6-foot-3 junior Broc Finstuen also collected 19 points in the lopsided victory.

Six-foot-1 junior Gavin Roosen led the Knights with 17 points and 5-foot-10 junior Calvin Steberg added 10 points.

The Held Bus Services Knights of the game were Steberg, Roosen and 6-foot-3 senior Ryan Pelkey.

Pelkey had four points and got into a bit of foul trouble but early in the game was tenacious on the glass.

The Panthers bench outscored the Knights' bench 17-2 in the game and Pine Island's seven threes were also a big factor because Kenyon-Wanamingo had one.

Kenyon-Wanamingo hosts Goodhue in a girls and boys varsity Friday and we will have both games on the radio. The girls game coverage begins at 5:45PM and the boys will follow about 8PM.

With the win, Pine Island is 5-7 in the league and 9-10 overall and Kenyon-Wanamingo falls to 1-10 in H-V-L action and 2-16 overall.

The victory was Pine Island's third straight and they travel to Dodge Center to face Triton on Friday before returning home next Tuesday to play Goodhue.
