Each morning during the 8AM news, Gordy mentions all the national days, like pumpkin day, sausage pizza day, angel food day, bosses day and so on. I never pay too much attention thinking maybe Congress should be doing something more important than voting on some national day. On the other hand, maybe something like this is all they can agree on! However, when Gordy mentioned it was National Farmers Day it caught my attention.

National Farmers Day has records of events that were held going back to the 1800s. It is quite fitting that it is a day is during harvest. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that sums up the hard work and dedication it takes if be a farmer. To those who work in acres not hours! So, to all the farmers harvesting corn and soybeans and taking care of livestock happy Farmers Day.

In the picture standing by the tractor is my uncle Roger, and my cousin Chad is in the tractor cab on the ripper. It had been a long fall with my dad dying of cancer. After the funeral, Roger and Chad told me the next day they were coming over to chop and disk rip my corn stalks!
