On Tuesday afternoon the Minnesota Pork Board held their annual meeting in Mankato. All pork producers pay into the check-off based on the pigs that they sell. At the annual meeting producers are elected to the Minnesota Pork Board to oversee how the check-off funds are spent. The law requires that they can be spent only on research, education and promotion. In addition the books have to be audited every year by the USDA.
