May is Mental Health Month and mental health professional Eric Lundin stops by the KDHL studio to discuss an area of health we still don't know a lot about.

Since 1949, Mental Health America has led the observance of Mental Health Month in May, saying mental health is something we should all care about. This year's theme is "Life with a Mental Illness."

Mental Health America is asking people with mental illness to share what life is like for them in words, pictures and video and tag their social media posts with #mentalillnessfeelslike. The posts will be collected and displayed at www.mentalhealthamerica.net/feelslike.

Sharing is the key to breaking down negative attitudes and misperceptions surrounding mental illnesses, showing others they are not alone in their feelings and symptoms.

Mental Health America also encourages people to take a mental health screening if they think they are showing signs or symptoms of a mental illness.

I hope you can tune in at 9:30AM and learn more about mental illness. Unlike a broken arm or leg you can't tell by seeing a person with the illness.

The show can also be viewed at www.youtube.com/user/KDHLRadio.
