On Wednesday I went up to the Hay and Forage Expo just south of Cannon Falls. The Hay and Forage Expo was organized by Farm Progress Companies. The Hernkes hosted the event as they did back in 2011. They move the Hay and Forage Expo to different hosts in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. There were a lot of exhibitors that work with hay and forage, plus field demonstrations. All the major equipment manufacturers were there with equipment cutting, chopping and baling hay.

It was great to see that the weather cooperated. Not only do you need good weather the days of the expo, but before the show, too. The first crop of hay needs to be harvested about 30 days before the show. That way the second crop of hay will be ready at the time of the show. It is a very big disappointment if it rains during the show. Not only does rain keep people from attending but of course there are no field demonstrations. Plus the entire event and parking is held in a field. Matt Jungmann, the expo manager, told me people and exhibitors understand when that happens and you just look forward to the next year.
