Agriculture Hall of Fame at the Rice County Fair

The 10th annual Best of the Best, the Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame program, will be Wednesday morning at the Rice County Fair. A free breakfast will be served from 7:30-9AM in the beer garden, sponsored by the Rice County Farm Bureau. The program will begin about 9:15, also in the beer garden. In addition to this year's inductees, all the past inductees will be recognized along with the Rice County Farm Family of the year, a number of conservation awards, Century Farms and a Special Friend of the Rice County Fair award.

The Hall of Fame is organized by the Faribault Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee and the Rice County Fair. It is sponsored and funded by Doug Gilbertson and the Nerstrand Agri Center. This has turned into a great annual event to celebrate agriculture. What better place to do it than at a county fair? I know that Steele County has a Livestock Hall of Fame, but I am not aware of programs like this in other counties. Hopefully leaders in other counties will step forward and start a program like this in their counties!
