Groundbreaking For Rebuild At Tink Larson Field Wednesday

They were working and planning to rebuild at Tink Larson field after the fire last year and then the rains and the flooding came. At that all of a sudden was a more important situation to deal with.

But the work is set to begin to rebuild what was destroyed on Wednesday. A fundraising task started in January. And now they have almost all of their $1.9 million goal. The Minnesota Twins kicked in $100,000 and the Pohlad Family foundation kicked in $60,000. The Minnesota Vikings have kicked in $50,000 and the Super Bowl Host Committee also kicked in $50,000.

According to the Star Tribune, the city of Waseca is putting in $150,000, the state another $375,000, in bonds. Insurance money is around $800,000 and the rest of the money coming from all those who love Tink Larson and the field and what it represents for the city.

Fire Destroys Grandstand At Tink Larson Field

Larson is excited for the groundbreaking. He thanks Twins President Dave St. Peter and Community Relations Senior Director for jumping in first on the project. They have even donated 200 seats for the grandstand – 100 from the old Metrodome and 100 from Target Field that were removed from the center field area.
