The Goodhue Wildcats and Mankato West Scarlets had their seasons end in semifinal state tournament action over the weekend.

Defending state Class A champion Minneota got by Goodhue 27-19 at Prior Lake High School and defending Class AAAAA champ Mankato West lost to St. Michael-Albertville 31-28 in an entertaining game on the same field.

The Scarlets' loss means a new champion will be crowned in Class AAAAA. St. Michael-Albertville will play St. Thomas Academy for the title Saturday at 4PM at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

In the other Class A semifinal game, Minneapolis North outscored Barnum 61-30 at St. Cloud State. The title tilt will be Saturday at 10AM at the Bank.

Other chamipionship games at TCF Bank Stadium are:

Nine-man defending state champion Grand Meadow plays Underwood on Friday at 10AM.

Class AA Caledonia (43-6 winner over Ottertail Central Saturday) faces Pipestone Area (49-9 victors over United North Central Friday) Friday at 1PM.

Class AAA championship will be Pierz (29-6 victory over Tri-City United) against Jackson County Central (30-14 win over Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton) at 1PM Saturday.

Class AAAA defending champion Becker (34-14 winner over Stewartville Friday) meets South Saint Paul (19-14 defeat of Maple Grove Saturday) at 4PM Friday.

In Class AAAAAA, Osseo and East Ridge of Woodbury play 7PM Friday.
