Abby Zuis of Farmington had purchased a Galaxy Note 7 in August. A month later they were recalled due to reports of them exploding and catching fire. She went and got a replacement.

Friday afternoon she was waiting for some siblings to get out of school and had her phone in her hand when it became hot and started smoking. The rubber case melted into the phone. She went to the school nurse to get the soot off of her thumb and later went to the doctor. The smell of the burnt phone was noticed in the school.

Her father, Andrew Zuis, said someone from Samsung wants to investigate the incident. He has contacted a lawyer about it. He was thankful the phone was not in her pocket or purse.

Abby is already certain she does not want another Note 7.
