Faribault Falcon running back Felipe Ramirez scored a school record six touchdowns while amassing a school record 331 yards in a 56-41 win over Austin on Friday night.

It was the team's last home game of the season and senior night was observed at Bruce Smith Field.

The field is named after a former Faribault great, and I'm sure he would have been impressed by the power and speed shown by the Falcon back.

I know this fan went Felipe over Ramirez. He's listed as a 5-foot-10, 220-pound sophomore in the program, but coaches told me after the game he's actually a junior. They would love to have him for an extra year.

My unofficial statistics had Ramirez with 120 yards in the first quarter and 197 yards on 18 carries at the half. He finished the night with 43 carries for 331 yards.

The coaches will make the yardage official after they've gone over the film.

Ramirez had runs of 69 and 42 yards in the first quarter and added a 50-yarder in the fourth quarter. He was punishing would-be tacklers delivering blows while finishing his runs.

Other Falcon scores came on a Kade Hart to Winfield Hunter 19-yard pass and a Hart to Brady Combs toss of four yards.

Faribault has had trouble getting and taking advantage of opponent turnovers, but that was not the case Friday night. Cody Ehlers and Sam Pommeranz had interceptions and Trenton Hilley collected a fumble recovery in the game. They were named Faribault State Farm Faribault players of the game along with Ramirez and the entire starting offensive line of Declan Bongers, Connor Leet, Dalton Fillippi, Hunter Gare and Christian Weber. Tight end Sam Jasinski is also used primarily as a blocker on the line. Courtesy of State Farm Agents Jason Krohn and Tony Langerud.

It was 27-21 at the half with Faribault in the lead. They had a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Packers returned the second half opening kickoff for a touchdown to take the lead but Faribault answered and then never looked back.

The Falcons finished their season 1-7 and the Packers are 0-8 heading into the section playoffs next week.

Seedings will be released on Saturday and we hope to have them for the Faribault coaches show at Bashers at 10AM.
