Faribault Police have Subjects in Custody

SUBJECTS IN CUSTODY FOR FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT

At 1:46 am on Saturday, January 25, 2014, Faribault Police Officers were dispatched to the 10 block of 3rd Street NW for a reported fight involving a knife.  The first responding officers found an unresponsive male lying on the ground, and CPR was initiated.  The victim, a 30-year-old male, was discovered to have suffered multiple stab wounds.  While performing rescue efforts, bystanders interfered with the officers, and at least two persons were restrained by officers.  The victim was transported by North Ambulance to District One Hospital in Faribault, and then airlifted to a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Officers and detectives interviewed numerous witnesses, and two males detained at the scene, were subsequently jailed pending formal charges.  

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Northfield Police Department, Lonsdale Police Department, Dundas Police Department and Faribault Fire Department all provided assistance in responding and securing the scene.
