The Faribault Falcons are a game away from getting to the final four of the Section 2 Class 3A Tournament.

Faribault pitchers allowed just three hits in the two games -- two in the opener against Mankato East and one against Worthington in the next game.

The Falcons were the No. 6 seed in the section so that means they defeated the No. 5 seed Cougars and the No. 4 seed Trojans.

In the first game, Adam Vos got the win while throwing the first two innings. He allowed one hit, struck out two and walked two. Peyton Miller took the next 3-1/3 innings and gave up no hits while striking out two and walking one. Graham Gulsvig finished the game and in 1-2/3 innings gave up a hit and struck out a batter.

Faribault clubbed 13 hits in the game with multiple hit games for Austin Rendler, Jake Louwagie and Peyton Miller.

In the third inning Miller tripled, Rendler doubled and Chase Ernste and Louwagie collected singles and Faribault scored four runs. Miller had three hits and three RBI's and Louwagie had two RBI's on three hits.

In the second game Chase Ernste knocked home Dylan O'Neil for the only run of the game in the sixth inning.

It was a pitcher's affair with the Falcons getting 6-1/3 innings from Graham Gulsvig. He was masterful, with eight strikeouts and two walks while allowing just one hit.  Adam Vos came in to record the last two outs and get the save. He gave up a hit, struck out a batter and walked a batter.

Worthington will play Mankato East in the elimination bracket at 11AM Saturday and the Falcons will play the winner at 1PM.

The winner of this First Four Tournament goes to the final four and travels to top seed Mankato West on Tuesday at 6PM with No. 3 seed New Ulm going to No. 2 seed Marshall that evening at the same time.

The remainder of the tournament is held in New Ulm.
