Hats off to the Rice County Soil and Water Conservation District, NRCS and Forestry for hosting the 21st Annual Envirothon at Alexander Park in Faribault. The staff, local board members and a few volunteers organize the contest for high school students. There were three teams from Goodhue, teams from Northfield, Medford, Pine Island, the Discover School in Faribault plus teams from Houston and Fillmore counties. There were a number of different topics or areas the teams competed in including: Water Resources, Soils and Current Events, Forestry and Wildlife, and Oral Presentations. It was fun to stop by and see all those students excited to be involved in learning more about our Natural Resources and Environment. In the picture is the team from Goodhue that won the Envirothon.
