In the 30-year history of the Dam Days Parade in Morristown, it had never rained during the parade. I remember some heavy rain during the parade lineup, or after the parade, but never during the parade. So was their record broken Friday night? I guess it depends on your definition of rain. There was a drizzle during the parade, maybe a heavy drizzle, but in my definition not rain. However, as my 820 does not have a cab, I was pretty wet by the time I got the tractor loaded after the parade.

There was no question there were fewer people along the parade route than most years but still a nice crowd. I should have know that the roasting for my 60th birthday Thursday would continue in Morristown on Friday night. As I drove my tractor to the beginning of the parade route, Marge was there with a group to sing Happy Birthday. Then I see Brian from Wholesale Tire tying balloons to the back of my tractor seat. The next thing I notice is a lot of people holding signs saying Happy Birthday Jerry. It was not surprising to see a sign until I saw how many there were and they were all the same! Black lettering on ORANGE paper, not green. Somehow I know that was not an accident!
