The winter meeting season is winding down, but there is at least one more program coming up Wednesday in Farmington. It is the annual Dakota County Crops Day that will begin at 9AM at the Dakota Electric Association in Farmington. That is just west of the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington. It is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Extension Service. A special thank you to Dakota Electric, Kimmes-Bauer Well Drilling and the Southeast Minnesota Irrigators for sponsoring the lunch.

The program includes Dr. Fabian Fernandez talking about split nitrogen applications. Lisa Behnken will discuss weed and resistance management. Kristin Brennan, state soil scientist, will cover soil health, and Mike Plutowski with Dakota Electric will talk about energy conservation programs. In addition, Ron Struss with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture will roll out the new nitrogen management plan. Finally right after lunch the Southeast Minnesota Irrigators Association will hold their annual meeting.

All farmers (not just those in Dakota County) are welcome and there is no charge. They always plan for more, but if you know you are going, RSVP to Jackie at (651) 463-6319. If you find Wednesday morning you have time to attend, just show up and they will have lunch for you.
