Special thanks to Wayne, Mary, Nick O'Connor and the rest of the crew at Agro Connor for hosting the annual Corn Planting Broadcast on out sister station, KRFO in Owatonna. KRFO does not have a local farm broadcaster, so when something farm-related is going on, I help out. Also special thanks to Cash Wise Foods in Owatonna for bringing a great lunch of what I call real food. Mashed potatoes, gravy, chicken and coleslaw.

The thought behind the corn planting broadcast is to educate the public about all the business that farmers like the O'Connors work with and depend on each year to plant a crop. We invite them out to the farm, serve lunch and then talk with them on the air about the products and services they provide to farmers in the area. We try and pick a date near the end of the planting season so it is a little more relaxed. At one time there were about 30 people there visiting and enjoying lunch.

The O'Connors' was a great place to hold the corn planting broadcast, with their new office. Wayne has been a Pioneer sales representative for many years, and just last summer they started Agro Connor, which is a crop consulting business along with selling fertilizer and pesticides. We are planning on returning to the O'Connors' this fall for the corn harvest broadcast.
