Rice County Fair Senior Essay Winners Announced
The winning essay was submitted by Evelyn Horwath of Faribault and was entitled, "A Close Call." The story of an eventful trip aboard a hay rake in the summer of 1941. Horwath describes the harrowing experience in such vivid detail you can close your eyes and see it happening.

Ron Parker has been very involved with the Rice County Fair Board, Rice County Historical Society Board and the start of the River Bend Nature Center in Faribault.

2018 Rice County Fair Queen is Megan Vikla
Vikla's oldest sister Heather was the Second Attendant in 2012 and Emily was the First Attendant in 2013. The First Attendant was 17 year old Zoe Nassif of Dennison and the Second Attendant 16 year old Hannah Singh of Northfield.
Rice County Fair Queen Coronation is Tuesday night
The Fair Queen Pageant is Tuesday night 7:00 p.m. on the Sellner Stage and will be followed by a performance by the Faribault Community Band on the opening night of this year's event.
