The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals showed fans in Waterville Thursday night why they are ranked tops in Class A in the Volleyball Coaches Poll.  A combination of a talented Cardinal squad and a nervous, young Buccaneer team led to a 3-0 sweep for BA.  Scores were 25-11, 25-15 and 25-15.  Before the match Cardinal Head Coach Franz Boelter told KDHL his team was expecting a good match against an up and coming talented young Waterville-Elysian-Morristown team.  The Bucs appeared very nervous in the first set with a number of errors coupled with the precision play of the Cards.  In the second set BA jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the Bucs had their best stretch of the night, getting the score to 10-8 after an awesome dig of a ball going out of bounds by WEM Senior Setter Haley Taylor.  Taylor got the ball back on the court before falling over a chair on the Buc bench and her team gathered the point and some momentum.  They could never get that kind of momentum again. Our Faribault State Farm Agents Faribault players of the match were Libero Shanna Matecjek, Payton Nutter and Hanna Robb.  All the Cardinals played well though.  They travel to the metro this weekend for a tournament with all the volleyball powerhouses in the state.  The top five ranked teams in Class 3A are scheduled to be there along with Marshall and BA, the only two teams invited outside of the big schools.  Former Cardinal Assistant Coach Ken Trnka is now assisting Buc Head Coach Crystal Lamont and said their team is much better than they showed.  In the picture below he's helping get the Buccaneers ready for their match against the powerhouse Cardinals.
