It's now official.  Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinal Head Boys Basketball Coach Franz Boelter has announced his retirement from the position.  Boelter held the position for 30 years and coached a total of 36 years.  His career record is 613-290, which is 7th on the all-time Minnesota High School Coaches career win list.  Boelter was inducted into the Minnesota State Boys Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2012.  He began his career in Medford in 1978 and won two Gopher Conference Championships there before moving to Faribault.  At BA his team collected 14 conference championships, were State Class A runner-up in 1993 and finished third at the State Tournament in 1994.  The Cardinals would also travel to the State Tournament in 2002 and 2009.  Bethlehem Academy would be Section Runner-up three times and District or Subsection runner-up 10 times under Coach Boelter.  Boelter will continue as Head Volleyball Coach and Director of Advancement at the Faribault school.  Coach Boelter says, "it's truly time for me to retire from this position."
