Baseball Playoffs: Cannon Falls 11, Triton 1

The Cannon Fall Bombers won the right to advance to the next round of the subsection 1AA west tournament on Saturday as they defeated the Triton Cobras 11-1 in five innings.

The Bombers had a 7-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Tanner Carlson got on second ase on an error after Carlton Lindow got a base hit. Then Michael Monson walked and that loaded the bases. Nathan Melhouse hit to short, that scored a run to make it 8-1. Derick Wencl came on in place of starting pitcher Michael Tomas. Nick Lorentz scored two more to make it 10-1 and then Garret Beach hit out to left field and Jason Traynor hit to center field. Dakota Hester had trouble with it and that allowed Lorentz to make the score 11-1 and end the game.

Cannon Falls faces either Kasson-Mantorville or Stewartville on Saturday at 12:30PM in Stewartville.
