Wednesday evening I was heading home after the Princess Kay of the Milky Way coronation and I saw this Ferris wheel all lit up. Harley on the Birthday Club mentioned he was going to ride this Ferris wheel at the Minnesota State Fair. It is called the Great Big Wheel. It is 156 feet tall, 85 feet wide and 60 feet deep. It weighs more than 200 tons and 12 semi trucks are needed to transport it from one fair to the next.

The Great Big Wheel was manufactured in the Netherlands and is one North America's largest traveling Ferris wheels. A ride lasts 10 minutes with 216 people in the seats at a time. The Great Big Wheel was debuted this winter at the Florida State Fair and was at the Wisconsin State Fair before coming to Minnesota. There are more than 500,000 programmable LED lights that can change to many different colors. I read that it costs only $5 to ride this Ferris wheel. While you are at the Minnesota State Fair are you going to take a ride?
