A Look Back: Civil War Flag, Rice County

According to the display at the Rice County History Museum, the design of stars in the blue field was not regulated during the 19th century. As long as there was one star for every state in the union, any design was acceptable. Tamara Gruhot / Townsquare Media

Robert Hutchinson, captain of Company C of the 6th Minnesota Voluntary Infantry, brought back the company battle flag after the Civil War. The flag has been donated to the Rice County Historical Society.
