The Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars boys basketball team defeated Cannon Falls 52-47 in a close game throughout at the Bombers Hangar Tuesday night.

Turnovers and free throws were the differences in the game.  The Cougars had a 29-23 halftime lead after Cannon Falls senior Dylan Banks made a shot at the buzzer from beyond half court.  It was our Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of the Game.

The Bombers had a couple small leads in the second half but in a one possession game fouled with a little over a minute to go in the game.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa was 13 of 19 from the free throw line while Cannon Falls was 3 of 6.

The Bombers finished the game with 17 turnovers while the Cougars had 12.  Z-M scored 16 points and Cannon Falls 8 points off turnovers.

The Bombers finished the game with 6 three point baskets while Z-M had 5.

The Cougars were led in scoring by junior, 6'4  Kayden Rodrick and senior 6'4 Caden Mercer with 11 points each and sophmore 6'2 Hunter Streit's 10 points.

Cannon falls junior 6'2 Tyler Johnston collected 10 points and sophmores 5'11 Dylan Banks and 6'4 Aiden Johnson each had 9 points.

The Bombers scored 24 and the Cougars 20 points in the paint.

Cannon Falls next game is Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Goodhue.  Z-M hosts Pine Island Friday and Kenyon-Wanamingo Monday.
