Where You Can See The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train This Year
The Candian Pacific Holiday Train has raised over $17-million dollars and collected close to 5-million pounds of food for local food banks since 1999. The attraction is a fun way to spread holiday cheer, but it is also really important for local food banks including Channel One here in southeast Minnesota.
Last month organizers of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train made the difficult decision to cancel this year's route because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they promised a virtual event, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CP will donate to food banks in communities along with its network and host a virtual concert in lieu of its regular Holiday Train program. The modified program will draw attention to food security issues, while ensuring donations go to all food banks that would ordinarily receive them, including those that typically host a Holiday Train event in alternating years."
We now know all about the virtual event. On their Facebook page, they explain, "The 22nd annual CP Holiday Train is back. And this year, it's first—and only—stop is your home! Although the train might look a bit different this year, we're keeping the spirit of Christmas alive with a virtual concert via Facebook Live on December 12 at 6 MT to raise money for food banks across North America. Celebrate the holidays with us and listen to great music, including performances by Serena Ryder, The Trews, JoJo Mason, Logan Staats and Kelly Prescott. We'll see you soon!"
