Congratulations are in order for the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown volleyball team after sweeping United South Central tonight. The Buccaneers claim their third straight Gopher Conference Championship.

Scores were 25-9, 25-5, 25-9.  The shortened season means only one round of conference play is counting toward the conference title.  The Buccaneers go 7-0.

Toryn Richards smacked 20 kills, Kylie Pittmann 11 kills for Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.  Middle hitter Alex Heuss added 4 kills.

Senior setter Ellie Ready doled out 35 assists.  Rylee Pelant connected for 4 ace serves.

Junior Mikaya Schuster added 5 assists for the Gopher Conference Champions.

Bethlehem Academy swept Hayfield with two of the sets going to overtime.  Scores were 26-24, 25-18, 26-24.  The Cardinals need to make up a match with United South Central to finish the first round of conference play.

Vikings Head Coach Jeremy Struck provided some statistics for the match.  Senior setter Maryx Young had 24 assists.  Senior outside hitter Jenna Jacobson finished the night with 11 kills and a .474 hitting percentage.  Last time Hayfield played BA Jacobson tallied 16 kills.  Her hitting percentage that night was .220. It was a four set loss to the Cardinals.

The Vikings team had a total of 28 kills in the match.  Sophomore middle hitter Reese Bauman hit .400 with 6 kills.

Hayfield played very well defensively with 86 digs in the 3 set match.  Junior libero McKenna Chick was all over the floor with 20 digs.  Jacobson had 15 kills and Young added 13 digs.

The Vikings just didn't have enough offense to get by the Cardinals.

Kenyon-Wanamingo picked up their second win of the season while avenging a loss they had earlier this year to the Triton Cobras.

Scores were 25-10, 25-13, 25-16.

The Cobras were coming off a couple weeks of no practices or games due to COVID-19 so the Knights did take advantage of the rust.  Sophomore Tessa Erlandson led the way with 14 kills.  Stella Rechtzigel added 7 kills and 5 blocks.

Erlandson and libero Rachel Ryan each had 2 ace serves.  Setter Jose Quam dished out 26 assists.

Senior Hailey Lerfald added 6 kills and 3 blocks.  Julia Dahl led the Knights with 13 digs and added 3 blocks.

15 ace blocks lit up the Kenyon-Wanamingo statistical book.

#5 Class 2A ranked Kasson-Mantorville swept Cannon Falls in the Bombers Hangar.  Scores were 25-16, 25-13, 25-19.

The Bombers provided some statistics with no players having double digit kills on the night.  Senior Mikayla Bowen led the way with 6 kills but was held to a .167 hitting percentage.

Junior middle hitter 6'1 Halle Hustad added 5 kills with a blistering .556 hitting percentage.

Junior libero Bree Robinson had the most digs with 13.  Bowen added 12.  Freshman middle hitter 6'1 Madison Burr picked up 11 digs.
