Wanamingo Drops Fourth Straight Game

The Wanamingo Jacks opened their season with a win at Waseca but since then have fallen on hard times.  The Jacks have dropped four straight games since their opening victory.

Sunday was their fourth consecutive loss.  The Pine Island Pioneers edged Wanamingo 4-3 in Pine Island.  The Jacks had a 2-0 lead after two innings.  The Pioneers tied the game with two runs in the top of the 4th then added two runs in the top of the 8th before Wanamingo came up just short of sending the game to extra innings with 1 run in the bottom of the 9th.

Wanamingo has not had their field cleared for games to be played there.  It is owned by the Kenyon-Wanamingo school district.

A loyal Jacks fan told us they feel the lack of a home field is having it's effect on the Wanamingo team.

In the game Sunday Pine Island had 11 hits, the Jacks 5 hits in the game.

Sam Roosen went the distance for Wanamingo allowing 4 runs on 11 hits with 4 strikeouts, 1 walk.  The box score on the Minnesota Baseball Association website did not include any individual Pine Island statistics.

For the Jacks Aaron Bauer and Brady Anfinson each had doubles.  Gavin Roosen, Sam Roosen, Alex Roosen had the other hits for the team.

Wanamingo travels to Hudson Field in Rochester to play the Roadrunners Wednesday 7:30 p.m..  Saturday they are the home team in Owatonna against the Aces at 2:00 p.m. then go to Austin Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

Pine Island travels to Waseca Wednesday 7:30 p.m.  Hosts Austin Friday 7:30 p.m. before going to Stewartville-Racine Sunday 2:00 p.m.

Austin leads the Twin Rivers with a 4-1 league record.  Dodge County is 3-1, Waseca 3-3, Stewartville and Owatonna each have 2 wins and Pine Island and Wanamingo 1 win each with Winona looking for their first victory.
