The thrilling Class 2A state high school football playoff game between the Goodyear Wildcats and the Waterville-Lesbian Morristown Buccaneers was a showcase of grit, determination, and explosive plays. With both teams entering the matchup undefeated, anticipation filled the air as they took to the field at McNamera Stadium in Hastings, Minnesota.

From the outset, both teams demonstrated their prowess in running the ball. The Wildcats jumped to an early lead with a one-yard touchdown run by Jack Carlson. However, the Buccaneers quickly retaliated, with Brady Murphy scoring on a 30-yard run and Athetherton converting a two-point attempt, putting Waterville-Lesbian Morristown ahead 8-7.

The back-and-forth nature of the game continued through the second quarter. The Wildcats recaptured the lead when Luke Russian connected with Alex Los for a two-yard touchdown pass. After this score, Owen Russian successfully executed a two-point conversion, putting the Wildcats ahead 15-8. Yet, the Buccaneers inched closer to leveling the score before halftime, only to falter as time ran out.

As the third quarter unfolded, the Buccaneers found their rhythm. Following an injury to Athetherton, Murphy led the charge, scoring a touchdown that tied the game at 22 after a successful two-point conversion. The momentum seemed to sway in favor of the Buccaneers, yet the Wildcats remained poised, ready to respond.

With the game tied, both teams entered overtime. First, the Buccaneers capitalized with Murphy scoring another touchdown, giving them a 28-22 lead. In a pivotal moment, the Wildcats had to regroup and mount a response. With their backs against the wall, they delivered a stunning counterattack. Luke Russian orchestrated a swift and precise drive, culminating in a nine-yard touchdown pass to Owen Russian, bringing the game to a 28-28 stalemate.

In these high-stakes moments, the Wildcats’ kicker, Christian Marez Mendes, showed composure, executing a successful extra point that would ultimately decide the game in favor of Goodyear, 29-28. This victory advanced the Wildcats to the semifinals, while the Buccaneers' perfect season came to a heartbreaking end.

This game wasn’t merely a contest of athleticism; it was a display of strategy, teamwork, and resilience. Each play resonated with significance, creating an atmosphere that truly exemplified the spirit of high school football. Both teams displayed commendable sportsmanship, with players and coaches reflecting on a season filled with accomplishments, teamwork, and community spirit.

As the celebration echoed in the stands for the Goodyear Wildcats, the emphasis shifted to future challenges and opportunities awaiting them at US Bank Stadium. The Waterville-Lesbian Morristown Buccaneers, while disappointed, walked away with pride, knowing they fought fiercely and gave their all in a season to remember.

This match was undeniably a classic, etched in the memories of players, fans, and communities. It is moments like these that remind us of the beauty of sports — the passion, the heartbreak, and ultimately, the unforgettable experience of coming together as a community to support young athletes.

The Goodyear Wildcats. The number two seed will tangle with the number three seed Waterville Alleian Morristown. Two undefeated teams going toe-to-toe here on the artificial surface at this historic field that's home, of course, to the Hastings Raiders. These teams are really similar in that they love to run the football. They both have very good, very physical lines, and that's where it's all won and lost, right, is in the trenches. So, I'm looking forward to seeing this matchup between the Goodyu Wildcats in their purple and white and the Waterlian Morristown Buccaneers in their black, green, and white. Good you because of the higher seed, the home team. Not that it matters, right? It really doesn't matter here at this complex that I'm just guessing was probably [music] built in the 20s or 30s. They're they've condemned this side. I'm on the the visiting side of the field, which is where Waterville Alicia Morristown is. Good is on the home side of the field, across the field from me. The press box is above across from me. The coaching box is on my side of the field. The Waterville Alleia Morristown coaches actually did invite me to come inside, but I elected to set up my table and sit outdoors. It's a beautiful night for football on this final outdoor football game for these two teams. Of course, other teams are playing tomorrow and more teams are playing on Saturday. And Saturday night is when it's supposed to get brutally cold. I'll be curious to see how good you handles the power T formation that Waterville Alleia Morristown likes to run. Of course, they saw it against Canon Falls during the course of the season. Cannon Falls has traditionally run it exceptionally well, but I know coach Tony Pona just told me moments ago that watching Waterville Alicia Morristown on film, he was very impressed with how they're able to throw out of that power T. Not many teams do throw a lot out of the power T. And don't get me wrong, they don't throw a lot, but he was really impressed with the effectiveness. Let's say they throw the ball eight times in a game. They get five completions with close to 100 yards. That's pretty efficient, right? But I anticipate that both these teams are probably going to want to control the football, keep the ball out of the other team's hands because both teams possess offenses that can score. Big plays could be huge in this. Not too long ago, I visited with both head coaches. We will hear first of all from Tony Ponith, the head coach of the Goodyear Wildcats. A big thank you to our friendly sponsors who made our broadcast possible here today. Fairway Meat and Grocery out of Farable and out of Owatana, Burkhards Meyer Shoes out of Farable, Millersburg Construction, J Mo's Bowl where you always strike a great meal are some of our super sponsors and we'll be listing more of them as we go throughout the course of the evening. But if I'm going to get these coaches interviews in, they're both very brief. I got a chance to visit with them on the field, the turf field here at McNamera Stadium, Todd Field in Hastings. I think McNamera Stadium is the football portion. The baseball portion, I believe, is Todd Field. I might have that wrong, but but uh what can I say? The winner of this game plays next Friday. Of course, the loser season comes to a crashing halt. The winner will play next Friday a 4:00 or is it a 4:30 kickoff? And uh whoever wins this game will be following them up at US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis in the Class 2A semifinals. The winner of this game will play the winner of Jackson County Central in Calonia. They are the one in four seeds in the South. They seed four teams in the North, four teams in the South. So you have a North South championship game. That's how they've set it up these years. I've suggested and of course the high school league doesn't really care what I think but I suggested that why don't we when the state tournament starts start playing indoors and then you could seed the teams and you could have an all southern Minnesota or an all northern Minnesota championship and get it that way. You know, because you might have the two best teams in the south or the north or the three best teams in the south or the north or maybe even the four best teams in the south or the north, if you know what I'm saying. But they they don't I mean most other tournaments they do seed all the way through, but football they don't because of the massive numbers, right? you got, you know, typically in, well, in high school ball at this level, you probably have 30 kids on a team and you got to get them to the games, but if you had them all at uh all at US Bank Stadium, and you could play the games during the week if you wanted to, or a bunch of them on a Saturday when the Vikings are out of town, that sort of thing. Just just a thought. So, anyway, I digressed as I quite often do. We'll be back with the comments from coach Ponlet. And then we'll take another break and we'll be back with the comments from Sam Steer, the head coach of Waterville Alleian Morristown in our pregame tonight in this quarterfinal round of the Class 2A state high school football tournament. Now I just got to find the interview and we will hear from him. As you can hear the band over the across the way. I think that's the good you band too that's across the way on well actually maybe both bands are here. I see there might be bands on both ends of the bleachers across the field from me. For whatever reason they don't want any fans to sit on my side of the field. Maybe they don't think I took a shower today. But I I I did. Anyway, here's [laughter] here's coach Ponlet and his thoughts on tonight's game. >> Well, Tony, it's everybody's dream to get to the state tournament. You guys are here again. >> Yeah, it's uh it's crazy how fast the season goes and you have a bunch of good kids that work their butts off and I just love seeing them get rewarded and play in the state tournament. >> You taking on a very good Waterville Alisia Morristown team. Of course, they got a lot of respect for you. I'm sure you have likewise. >> They look really good on film. I don't think Good's ever played Waterville to my knowledge. uh whim. Um but they look very good on film. They got some size. They obviously got some athletes and uh I think it's going to be a good game. You saw the power T against Canon Falls, but I think they're a bit more efficient this year than Cannon Falls was. >> Yeah. And I feel like they're uh they throw the ball better with it, too. So, yeah, it'll be a good challenge for our guys. >> Keys in this one for the Wildcats to advance to [music] the dome. Our last outdoor game here tonight. >> Well, we just got to take care of the ball. you know, you get in November and it gets a little greasier and uh just don't have any room for turnovers in in a big game and then, you know, we got to contain their big horses and uh number one and number four and keep those guys, you know, bracketed up and hopefully we can get the job done. Of course, you got a pretty big horse and Mr. Carlson, too. He's having a great year. Uh he's he's pretty tough kid and a smart kid and uh he's having a really good year for us. Hopefully, we can keep it going. Has he set any records for you guys? >> No. Um I don't think I mean he played a little bit as a freshman. Uh, and obviously he started both ways for the last three years, but uh, I think he started on defense as a freshman, but yeah, it's just kind of neat to see him um, you know, develop into the player he's become and just, you know what, he's, uh, he's in the weight room all the time and it shows and it carries over on the field and into wrestling. What impressed me the most when I saw you the first game of the year against Triton was your line play, man, if you got good offensive and defensive line. Why does somebody call me right in the middle of that interview? >> Explain that to me, please. >> What impressed me the most when I saw you the first game of the year against Triton with your line play, man. Have you got good offensive and defensive lines? >> Yeah, they had a good summer and uh you know, we go up to Duth for the team camp and they they started to gel up there cuz uh we graduated some pretty good linemen last year and we had most of our skills back. So, I think our line was our question, but they've really come together nice and put together a nice season. >> All right, thanks Tony. Good luck. >> Thanks. >> That's Tony Ponley. He's the head coach of the Goodyu Wildcats. Undefeated on the season. Likewise, Waterville Alia Morristown is unbeaten as well. We get our Nord Meyer brothers. Boy, they do great car work there. I know when the season began, coach, it's everybody's dream to be here at the state tournament. >> Yes, absolutely. And uh it's a privilege to be here. A great opportunity for the guys and they've earned it. So, we'll see how we play tonight. Both teams undefeated. What's it going to take to knock off a very good good you wild team? >> I'll stop the run and run the ball. I think I said the same thing last week, but it's the truth. This is a a good physical running football team and we got to stop the run and we're a good physical running football team. We got to keep doing what we do >> and it's been working, right? Absolutely. These guys have uh over 35 rushing touchdowns this year and add on some 11 pass touchdowns to that. But uh we just got to keep running the ball, keep grinding it out. >> If it's not broke, don't fix it. >> I think that's what they say. Yeah, I like that. I like that. We'll steal that one for tonight. >> No, I I don't [laughter] Is there one particular area of this game? I know all three phases of the game, special teams, defense, offense have to be good, right? Absolutely. And that that's one thing that we've really preached this week is making sure that we shore up special teams. Um don't forget about that third third way to score and uh make sure that we win our our little battles on offense and defense and keep the sticks moving, keep the ball in our our possession, and keep the ball out of theirs. >> This thing ends up in a real close game. You have a good kicker. Uh, we have we I I have faith in our kicker, yes. But I I also love our offense in close situations. So >> So you go for two more so than one. Is that what I'm hearing? >> We do. We try to build a lead that way and and then possess the ball. >> Okay. Yeah. Thanks, Sam. >> Oh, what are the North Brothers keys to tonight's game? I think you already said, >> uh, well, tackling and avoiding turnovers. >> All right. Thanks. >> That's Sam. Sam Steer, the head coach of the Waterville Legion Morristown Buccaneers. They're lining up on the far sideline. The Waterville Alleian Morristown Buccaneers are finalizing their warm-ups as their quarterback just threw a bomb, a 40 y perfectly placed in the kitchen of a receiver in the corner of the end zone. They'll come on the near sideline, I do believe. From the 40 to the 30 is Goodyu lined up side by side. their helmets off and at the side ready for the playing of our national anthem. As I mentioned before, I'm going to take my binoculars and make sure that I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. Yep, we've got Goodyear's band to the left of me and Waterville's band to the right of me. So, both bands are here. We'll see how they coordinate when they play. Maybe they'll both play the national anthem together. I don't know. That would be kind of cool, wouldn't it? as the Buccaneers line up on the near sideline. Buccaneers in the white jersey topselcome to the Minnesota State High School League football. >> They got black numerals with green trim. It says Buccaneers on the back of their uniforms, black pants, green and white trim on the side. Solid blackadium helmets, no logo. The Goodyu Wildats are in their purple uniforms. >> It says Wildats across their chests. >> They've got the white helmets with the Wildcat logo on the side of their helmets, white numerals. They got a white belt, white on their shoulder pads, otherwise primarily purple. League activities have developed a set of behavior expect >> and we will turn it over to the public address announcer here at McNamera Stadium. >> The student created behavior expectations include lead by example by being respectful. Will the teams and coaches please take the field for the introductions for this class 2A quarterfinal game. Let's introduce the teams. First, the visitors and the section 2 champions, the Waterville Allegian Morristown Buccaneers. [screaming] [cheering] The head coach of the Buccaneers is Sam Steer. The home team and section 4 champions are the GoodU Wildcats. [cheering] The captains are number one Luke Russian, number two Aiden Hull, number four Michael Russian, and number 32 Jack Carlson. The head coach is Tony Cons. [cheering] The co- captains just shook hands at midfield [cheering] and now the teams are lined up on each hash mark. Good on the far hashmark and Waterville Alleian Morristown >> on the near side hash mark. >> Please remove your hats and stand for our national anthem. >> Tonight the national anthem will be played by the Good High School band. >> There you have it. Good will play our national anthem. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. >> [cheering] >> Yeah. Well, they're going to shake hands at the middle of the field and we'll be ready to get this game underway. >> Waterville, Alleian, Morristown, and Goodyu. Class 2A quarterfinal round state tournament football on the mighty 920 KDHL. I'm Gordy Kfeld. The field has the Raiders logo at midfield. It says Raiders in white in the end zone to my left, which is the west end zone, the east end zone. It says Hastings in white. They got a blue back backdrop. Blue paint in each end zone underneath the white. Obviously, this is an artificial surface. Green. It's got soccer lines on the field as well. The Hastings Raider logo is massive in the middle of the field. Man, it takes up from the 40 to the 40 game. So, the Buccaneers will be going right to left, which is east to west here. I'll say right to left on your radio dial. Good is going from west to east or left to right on your radio dial here on the mighty 920 KDHL 979 FM. You can listen in stereo at 979. And the best way to listen is to download our free app, your favorite app store. You'll have it wherever you are in the world, in the universe. as it looks to me like Waterville Alia Morristown will be kicking off. Goodyu will be receiving. [screaming] Back deep for the Goodyu Wildcats is Hayden home. Hayden is a 155 lb senior. You heard the special teams talk of Sam Steer. They had short kickoffs >> in their last round and I don't think they want to give good you a short field. Dylan Edelman's going to be kicking off here. Oh no, I'm sorry. This is SLKA. Dawson Sletka kicks it off and he kicks it over to the far sideline and uh well it wasn't a deep kick by any means. Number three, Owen Russian on the return >> as Russian takes the ball out to about the 32 yd line. And that's where Goodyu will start first and 10 from their own 32 yd line. Their quarterback is Luke Russian. >> He's a 6'2 lb senior, an outstanding basketball player, just a really good athlete. So, Goodyu gets to have the football first here. I'm not sure who won the toss. They do that long before the game and on the sideline. I missed the days when they did it in the middle of the field. I really don't know why the high school league decided to go that other route. Left tackle for Goodyear is Ethan O'Reilly. He's a 6'2, 230 lb junior. Also in that offensive line for Goodyu is Carter Lindholm. He's a 63 205 lb senior. [cheering] >> As we're set to get this underway, they come out with two receivers right. Man comes in motion left, two right. There's a pitch and he's going to take it down to about the 34 yd line. >> So home was on the carry on the >> tackle. That makes it >> was made by Jacob Androli. Androli is a linebacker 5'11, 195B senior. You'll hear his name a lot. Double receivers, right? Double receivers left. They've spread out this defense. Russians in the gun. Man goes in motion left to right. He'll quick pitch [music] it left again to home. Home's going to run up. He's got a hole and he's going to dive up close to the 40 yd line. He'll be a couple yards short of a first down. He got kind of tripped up as he was running up the field. I didn't see who picked his ankle. >> So, it is going to be third down and two here for the Goodyear Wildats on their first series. We have not seen [cheering] the big fella run the football just yet. I'm guessing Jack Carlson might get it now. He's a 6' 220 lb senior. He's a load. Trips to the right. Single receiver left Russian in the gun. He's audibizing it appears. Gets the snap. He'll whip it out to the right and it's going to be well it's going to be short of the first down. Outstanding tackle coming up to make the stop as they threw the ball out in the flat to Owen Russian. Owen Russian only got back to the 40 yd line and it'll be fourth down. Fourth down and a couple and it looks like coach Ponlet might be going for it here. >> Tackle was made by Brady Murphy for Waterville Elise and Morristown. They're going for it on a fourth and and two and they're going to snap it and it looks like they might have stuffed it. Good is going to get stuffed at the 40 yd line. They direct snapped it to one of their backs and he was not able to get it past the line of scrimmage and taking over the football in Goodyu territory is going to be Waterville Legion Morristown. They're going to place the ball down at the 41 yd line. They needed to get to the 42. So the 41 of Goodyu is where Waterville Alleian Morristown will start. Coach Ponsel, I know very very confident his defense. They've thrown a lot of shutouts this year. >> But that should give them some adrenaline rush too. The Buccaneers as their quarterback Talon Taylor brings him up the power T formation. He'll take the snap. He'll fake the handoff. He's going to throw out of it and it's incomplete. It was a little too far out in front of Murphy. Had he been able to put it on his hands, his chest, he might still be running >> cuz it was open. >> So, it'll be second and 10 for the 41 of Good. Well, you heard Coach Steer say they wanted to run the ball and stop the run. They did stop the run and so far they tried to throw the ball, throw him off guard. It'll be second and 10. The power T formation. Three backs right behind Taylor. It'll hand off off to the left. Got a bit of a hold initially, but it gets closed in a hurry. A mass of purple makes the tackle >> as Athetherton. We'll hear his name a lot. Uh getting off the bottom of the pile for the Goodyu Wildcats was Alex Los. Alex is a 6'2 185-lb sophomore. Another really good basketball player on their state tournament team [screaming] from a year ago. As Taylor jogs to the sideline to get the play, Sam Ste got his shorts on again tonight. The head coach of Waterville Morristown. He says, "I've worn them all year. We've won every game. I got to wear shorts." In the gun is Taylor. He'll take the snap and we're going to have a flag fly. [cheering] >> So, we'll see what this is all about. >> Buccaneers. >> Well, they call the delay of game as you heard. So, a 5yd march off against Watervilleian Morristown. No score. Good stopped on their first series. No first downs. And the Bucks now find themselves on a well, it's second and or third and 12. The scoreboard says fourth and 11, but that's totally wrong. Here comes Taylor. He's looking to throw. He's going to run out of the pocket and he's going to be stuffed. He might have gotten a yard on the play so he won't be technically sacked. There were a bunch of guys there for Could you >> and they coraled him well. Taylor's got good speed. >> It was Ethan O'Reilly on the stop, the 230 lb junior. So, it'll now be fourth down and probably about 13. The scoreboard says 11, but it's more like 13. We got receivers to both sides. >> No, no, I'm sorry. They're in the punt formation here. Taylor the quarterback is a punter. Here's the punt. It's going to be shanked off the edge of his foot and they're not going to get much yardage on that at all. >> The Goodyear Wildcats will take over their second possession of the football. >> I think it's at the 2. Well, they're going to march it up the field a little bit here. It's going to be at the 28. >> So, they could not take advantage of that great field position after stuffing Goodyu. They were not able to get a first down. They had a pretty good run on their first run and then they had the penalty that marched them back. We did not talk about penalties in our pregame, did we? >> So good you spread them out. They got a receiver, two receivers left, two receivers right, eye formation. Here comes Carlson up the middle and he gets stuffed. Boy, Waterville Alisia Morristown is to the task again on the stop that time getting his pads down low as Jacob Androli the 5'11 195 lb senior. There's no gain on the play. It'll be second and 10 from the 28. Carlson as I told you is a load. He's a big boy for the Goodyear Wildcats. They come out in the spread again. Hand off to Carlson again. He bounces it outside. Comes at the near side hazmark. Keeps those legs pumping, pumping, pumping, and takes it out to the 35 yd line. Gets helped up by one of the Buccaneers. Good sportsmanship that time. >> Third and three. >> So, it'll be third and three here. on the stop >> was Timothy Kelstat. So, it's third down and three for the Goodyear Wildcats. Again, they spread out the defense. Russian rolls to his left. The right-handed quarterback is going to stop, throw down the field. It's caught. He got behind the defense and it's going to be inside the 35 to maybe the 32 yd line. Rushing got behind the defense on the stop that time for the Waterville Legion Morristown Buccaneers 33 >> as he takes it all the way down to the 34 yd line. They're going to mark it 34. You heard the announcer. It's 33 yd gain. the 34 yd line. On the long pass play is on the tackle was Ethan Einson. [screaming] Russian's going to throw again. No, he's going to run and he's going to be brought down at about the 30. >> Luke Russian on the quarterback keeper. So Rush gets brought down and androli was there. Also on the stop that time for the water for the Legion Morristown Buccaneers. >> Second and seven >> is Kaden James. James is a 61 240lb senior. He lowers his pass and he gets brought down now. >> Not much of a hole. And Doli met him in the hole and brought him down. He's at the 30 yd line. >> Third and six. >> You heard the reference by coach Pon that Carlson an outstanding wrestler. They got a number of really good wrestlers on this Goodyu team and Waterville Morristown also has had some good wrestling over the years. Again, I'd like to ask you to please remember Jeff Wagner in your prayers here [cheering] right. They've got uh their version of a stack deck. They're going to kick it right to home. He's going to get the first down. takes it down to about the 22 yd line. >> That was a good option play. They pitched it and was over there again. >> First down Wildcats. >> Also over there for the water of Alleian Morristown Buccaneers was Derek Tolsman. He's a 6 foot 173 lb senior. So the ball's at the 22 yd line. An impressive drive here by Goodyu. receiver to the left. Double receivers to the right. Eye formation behind Rush. The quarterback comes under center. He's going to quick pitch it left to home. He's got Carlson in front of him. Carlson lays a block. He's going to go out of bounds. He got chased out of bounds by Taylor, the safety, who's the quarterback for Waterville. Alia Morris down. And we'll see where they mark this football. It's going to be at about the 13 14 yd line. It'll be second and two >> as they haven't been able to get much up the middle. But boy, when they go outside, they have been able to get some yardage. And of course, the pass play when the pass was connected. And I don't know if I told you, but it was [cheering] Owen Russian who caught the pass. He got behind the defense. Here comes a hand off to home. He runs off to the left again. They let Carlson lead the way. You got this home who's got some shiftiness about him. >> Wild. >> That was Owen Russian carrying that time. He got a first down. They're going to mark this ball at the nine or 10 yd line. The 10 yd line. >> So it's first and goal from the 10 for the Goodyu Wildats. >> They started this drive again. >> [cheering] >> on the 32 and we're going to have a >> Owen Russian the ball carrier >> run by Owen Russian again and he's going to take it down to about the one >> second and goal from the one. Here comes a handoff and they dive forward and it is a [cheering] Well, I didn't see any signal from the referee, but they I guess it was a touchdown. I mean, you aren't just put their arms up in the air when there's a touchdown. Carlson gets the touchdown. A one-yer. >> They started this drive on their 28. I think I said 32. Carlson one-yd TD with 315 to go in the first quarter. Here comes the extra point kick. [screaming] [cheering] Snap is good. The hold is down. The kick is up. Athetherton grabbing his leg and just hanging on for dear life that time. Making the stop for the Goodyu Wildats. The ball carrier. >> Five on the second and five >> was uh Ethan O'Reilly again. So it's second down and five. A nice five yd pick up there. They're going to try the same play off the right side. He breaks out the open. Gets a first down to the 39 yd line. So Athetherton gets it out to the 39 yd line where it'll be first and 10. Waterville Legion Morristown. Of course, the first place to go for field drainage and septic systems is Dale Enterprises in Morristown. [cheering] First and 10 from the 39. They're not huddling. They're not huddling in the power T. They're just running uptempo here. Hand off. He's going to try that trap play again. They're going to keep pushing the pile and I think got another first down to the 35 yd line. >> Good use acting like there was a fumble. They're pointing it's their way and the officials have not yet said he comes out of the pile with the football, but they're saying it is not their football. [cheering] The Buccaneers said he was down, so it will be a first down for Waterville Morristown at the 36 yd line. A pickup of eight. They're getting chunks of green. Right to left in your radio dial go the Bucks. The handoff goes to Athetherton again. He follows his big lineman and pushes him ahead and takes it all the way down >> to the It was not Murphy. It was Athetherton the ball carrier. He just flipped him the ball. Balls at the 30 yd line. >> Second and four. >> So second and four from the 30 yd line. It's going to be a touchdown. Waterville Alleian Morristown. A 30 yd touchdown run. [cheering] >> For Murphy >> comes with 23 seconds to go in the quarter. And we're an extra point away from a tie and a two-point conversion away from a Buccaneer lead. So both teams find their mojo in their second offensive series as Taylor comes to the sideline, runs back to the huddle and checks out and typically the Bucks go for two and I think they're going to do that here. [screaming] Taylor comes under center. The power T with Athetherton and the handoff is to Athetherton. He's going to go to the right and get in. Tried to throw the fade to the corner of the end zone. That's not the easiest throw in the world to make. And he was open. The timing was just off. Tried to get it to Tolsman. Tolsman, the 6' 173-lb senior. >> So from the 23 yd line, it'll be third down and 10. 5 seconds to go in the half. Double receivers right and left. Taylor is in the gun. The snap is made. He's going to drop back. He's going to look left. We're going to try the same pattern and it's going to be well it went out of bounds I think. >> Yeah, you just missed him again. This is your sign for good things to come. At the half, it's 158. Good. Good. Wildcats had the ball to start the game and they went for it on a fourth down at their own 32 yd line and did not make it. That's right. They turned the ball over on downs. They started at the 32. They ended up at the 41. So taking over at the 41 of Goodyu was Watervilleian Morristown. They could not take advantage of that field position and missed opportunities. Right. I'm sure that's what coach Steer is thinking right now. They had an opportunity to tie or go ahead at the end of the half. They were on the doorstep of the red zone, but they just could not connect. Twice they tried to fade to the corner. Tried to hook up with Tolsman both times. Both times he did get behind the defense. The safety came over the second time and it was a tougher throw than the first time. They just couldn't get the timing down on that pass or we might have a tie game now had they kicked the extra point. So, we'll see. I always love the adjustments made at halftime. Kicking off the football for the Wildcats is Giovani [screaming] Sanchez Gonzalez. He says, "Everybody ready?" They are. Here comes the left footed kicker. It's an end over end kick that's going to be taken at the 10. He's at the 15. This is Athetherton. He bounces it outside. He points one tackler. He's at the 25 and he'll run out of bounds at about the 27 yd line and that's where the Bucks will start first and 10 from their 27 yd line here in the second half. >> Been a big thank you to Daryl Bower Remax realy far bringing you our halftime report. When you see that sign, the Bower Remax Realy sign, you know it's your sign for good things to come. So from the 27 yd line, it's first and 10. Waterville Legion Morristown >> coming out in their power T formation. Handoff is going to be up the middle and he's going to take it close to the 30 yd line. I don't think he quite got there >> as Athetherton was the lead uh man that time >> getting up off the bottom of the pile for the Goodyu Wildcats >> is Jackson O'Reilly. He's a 6'75lb sophomore. O'Reilly on the tackle. He did get it to the 30. It'll be second and seven from the 30. in the power T formation. Three backs standing side by side by side just two yards behind the quarterback. Quick pitch left to Athetherton. He's got a guy ushering out front. He's trying to get the speed to corner. Didn't quite get to turn the corner. Coming flying over there to make an outstanding stop for the Goodyu Wildats. >> They did get the first down. Alex Los made the tackle. >> So he did get the first down >> as he takes it out to the 41 yd line. Both these teams have been able to move the football and both these teams have fantastic defenses. So that tells you how good the offenses are too. From the 41 yd line, it'll be first and 10. And now they broke the huddle and the officials are looking at each other. And we got an officials timeout here. For what reason, I do not know. Maybe it's a clock issue. They broke the huddle and said, "Gee, we've only had a minute and 12 seconds of the second half." >> Oh, that seems about right to me. But >> Oh, we have an injury down here. A Waterville player is injured on the near side. They had to bring a trainer from the other side. That's why they stopped the play here. Can't tell you who it is because he's laying on his back and both teams are going to go to their sides. So, we're going to have a stoppage here with 10 minutes and 48 seconds to go. Nobody's going to be charged with a timeout. I don't think this is an injury timeout, but he's on the sideline. He's clearly on the sideline here. So, I don't know why they didn't resume action and have someone else go in, but they have not yet. Good use, I think, said over by their sideline. Waterville just le Morristown was on this sideline. a little bit of a somber mood here. I think it's Athetherton who's on the ground on the near sideline. >> They're trying to help him up. Yes, it is Athetherton. And he's looking a little groggy here. Just got his helmet off [screaming] and it looks like it might be a shoulder issue. That's a big blow for the Buccaneers. So from the 41 yd line, it's first and 10. 10:45 to go here in the third quarter. Buccaneers with the football. It's first and 10. Taylor under center. He's going to quick pitch it right. Going to Eertson's got a first down. He's going to take it out to the 49 yd line of Goodyu. [cheering] On the stop that time for the Goodyear Wildcats was Jackson O'Reilly again, the 6'75lb sophomore. Not before he gets a first down to the 49 yd line. >> Well, they drove before the end of the first half, but they couldn't connect on two attempts at a fade pattern as Taylor who's got pretty good speed. The quarterback might have to run a little more now with the Oh my. Here comes a run up the middle. He's going to take it all the way down. Brier takes it down to the 30 yd line. A 19 yd pickup. [applause] [cheering] And after going down >> Athetherton's injury is spark plugged this water Alleian Morristown Buccaneer team. I don't know we're going to see him again. He was holding his arm up like it was in a sling. >> Got his helmet off and he's >> he was out of the game. >> Brier came instead and got that big run. Here comes a hand off to Murphy. Murphy bricks a tackle and he'll bring it inside the 25 to about the 22 or 23 yd line. That's where they were last time, right? They're on the doorstep of the Bower Remax realy don't have to worry about third down conversions. They're picking up chunks of green and that line is just firing off the football with 920 to go here in the third quarter. On the Channel in Warsaw scoreboard, it's 158 in favor of Goodyu. Taylor under center, takes the snap, hands it off to Brier. Brier's out in the open and he's going to take it inside the 15 down to about the 13. It'll be another first down for the Buccaneers. The first place to go for held for field drainage and septic systems, Dale Enterprises in Morristown. They provide system work in Rice, Lassour, Steel, and Wasika counties. Handoff is going to be to Murphy. And boy was that a hole. He takes it down to about the five. [cheering] >> So a pick up of five. It'll be >> second down. >> They're going to mark this ball at the uh at the six. Actually, the ball's at the six. I think they can they can get a first down without scoring if I'm looking at the chains right. Second down from the six and the tight end right. He might be audibleizing at the line. Taylor takes the snap. He'll hand it off up the middle. Brier >> is going to lean forward to about the three. Picks up about three yardds on the carry. And I guess they couldn't get a first or or did they get a first down? >> First down. >> Yep, they got a first down to the two yd line. So it's first and goal from the two. Gin Athetherton went out with an injury and that had a somber mood for the players. I thought, uhoh. But boy, they've come out here and they they've had a spark, a spring in their step. Handoff goes to Murphy and it's a touchdown. [cheering] >> Waterville Legion Morristown Buccaneers. >> Murphy the two-yd touchdown run. >> Murphy from the Bower Remax realy red zone with 7 minutes and 18 seconds to go in the third quarter. They're one point away from tying, two points away from taking the lead. [cheering] That was a 73 yd drive and they're going for two. >> Taylor under center. The handoff goes off to the right and he's going to bounce it and run and [cheering] try to get in and I don't think he got in. It looked like he tried to weave and break the plane with a football, >> but the officials >> the officials ruled he did not get in. I know the coaches on the near side from Waterville, Alleian Morristown thought that he reached the football out to break the plane. That's all you have to do. Oh man, we had a great game brewing here. Hope you're enjoying our broadcast. Left to right. Here comes a onside sort of kick. They tried to kick it off one of the front guys. Did the Buccaneers to get the ball back, but no, it did not work. >> Good will take over at their 48 yd line. >> And they have some good field position here. Their first possession of the second half. So, what do the Wildcats have in store here? >> What adjustments did they make at halftime from the 48 yd line? They've been spreading out this Waterville Elijah Morristown Buccaneer defense. They'll continue that rushing in the gun. Double receivers on both sides. Carlson the lone running back. He'll hand it off to Carlson and he'll be dropped right now. Brier, >> boy, did they get penetration. He loses two yards on the play. down to the 46. So it'll be second and 12. The millisecond. [cheering] We need to choose our wildcats of the game for Goodyu, courtesy of the Goodyu County Corn and soybean growers associations. They are proud of their Goodyu lads. Double receivers's right or actually trips to the right. One receiver to the left. That's Los Rushian takes the snap, drops back, looks to Los. He's going to throw to Los. It's going to be intercepted by the Buccaneers. Perfect play. takes it to the 39 yd line. Anderson with the interception to the 39. [cheering] An interception by Energ [cheering] is intercepted by number 8. >> So they're going to take it. >> They're going to take it down to the what are they going to take at the 39 yd line. It is >> Einson will take over and >> from the 39 yd line. It's first and 10. Waterville Alleian Morristown. And believe it or not, since the injury to Athetherton, they have looked like a different football team. Looks like he's audibilizing Taylor at the line of scrimmage. He's going to hand off. He's going to get it off to Murphy. Murphy, they saw an opening over there. Murphy takes it and he gets thrown forward and he's got the first down to the 49 yd line of >> Goodyu. So a 12 yd pickup [cheering] >> at the 49 yd line of Goodyu is Waterville Legion Morristown. 525 to go here in the third quarter. It's 1514 Goodyu leads but it's been pretty much all Buccaneers so far in the second half. Taylor under center. The power T formation. Handoff is going to go to Brier up the middle. He's going to get a great gain out of this. Taylor I thought it was a broken play. Takes it all the way down to the 33 yd line. It's a first down. >> Taylor dropped back and he looked like he wanted to hand it off. There was nobody there. So he bounced it outside and he's going to get the first down to the 32 the 32 yd line. So another first down for the Buccaneers. Bale Enterprises Morristown provides field drainage and septic system work in Rice Lassour steel and Wasika counties. Power T formation. Handoff goes left side. Breer will take it down. Well, he may may have gotten two yards maybe. >> I'm sorry, that was Einerson. I saw the eight. Einerson is 88 and Brier is 28 or Breer. Alex Los is the injured player. That would be a huge blow to them just like Athetherton was for Waterville, Alicia Morristown. Two of the really good athletes on these teams. Trainer is talking to coach Ponid who's uh talking to Alex and Alex is getting up. He's going to come off here. Not sure the nature of the injury. Had his head cocked a certain way, which is why I thought may have been a Nick injury, but he's moving his head, so that's good. Balls at the 31 yd line, and it's going to be >> second down and about nine. Second and nine from the 31. They've been down here before. Not able to score. The Buccaneers. Taylor under center. Takes the snap. He'll hand it off. Einson's going to run forward. Maybe got to the 30. >> So, it's going to be a third down and eight >> from the 30. Third and eight. third and eight >> as Taylor comes the sideline to get the play with 229 to go in the third quarter. 1514 Goodyu leads it. Missed opportunities so far the story for the Buccaneers. Goodyu has been able to cash in when they've had the chance for the most part. Taylor under center takes the snap, hands it off to Einson and he's not going to get anything. They tried a trap play coming around from behind. >> Doing a nice job to make the stop for the Goodyear Wildats. >> Was uh Jay Ryan. He's a junior. 56 135 lbs. And it'll be fourth down and four. The ball's at the 27 yd line. So a huge fourth down here. They couldn't get the third down conversion. Of course, you you can get some recycling work done from our Shambo brothers discoal over there in Morristown. [cheering] Pull outs backfield under center. Here comes Taylor. You wanted to look at the defense. Now he comes back and I think they wonder going to take a timeout here. >> Buccaneers. >> Oh my. They got a delay of game against the Bucks. That takes a fourth and four and turns it into a fourth and nine. >> They got down here following an interception [cheering] and they're in danger of squandering another opportunity of the Bucks. The Wildats stiffening up, bending but not breaking. >> [cheering] >> Power T formation >> trying to draw him offside is Taylor on the long count. And now [cheering] we have a stoppage again. [cheering] >> They had another delay of game. Coach >> Coach Steer is talking to the official in the near sideline and >> the players are saying we need to get the play in quicker. So it's well it was fourth and nine. Now it's fourth and 14. Minute 17 to go in the third quarter. The Bucks are going the wrong way. Double receivers left, double receivers right. Taylor in the gun, drops back, looks he's going to unccork it to the right. He's got his mail. He got tripped. He got tripped on the play to Einerson. They say incidental contact on the trip evidently because no penalty flag flies. He was tripped on the play. >> Wow. That was on fourth down and 14. It looked like they might have been able to hook up around the 10, but he got tripped on the play. The feet got tangled up. >> No flag. And they get the ball at the 37 yd line. Do the Goodyu Wildcats. They're living right. Good has not had the ball much this half. They still have the lead though. 1514 with a minute 11 to go. Third quarter. They spread the defense again. Russian under center drops back. He's going to hand off. They're going to try to get home outside. And and is there again, >> man, this Androli's had a heck of a game >> for the Waterville Legion Morristown Buccaneers. He is all over the field. 53 seconds to go here in the third quarter. The Wildcats have a 154 lead. >> Couple of delay of game penalties when again they were on the doorstep of the Bower Remax realy red zone. The Bucks could not cash in. Pacing like an expectant daddy on the near sideline as coach Steer dropping back rushing. They're going to throw a pass in the flattest to home. H home's going to run out to left. Great speed. He knocked the ball out but it went out of bounds. Einrson came up and knocked the ball out of his hands. >> He knocked the ball out of his hands. The ball was completed. A fumble is going to bring the ball back and went out of bounds at the 33 yd line. And that's where they'll have the football at the 33 yd line. He had >> he had uh caught the ball and was up to about the 40 when Einstein came flying up >> and dislodged the football and Goodyu is fortunate that that ball went out of bounds. Receiver lap trips to the right. Luke rushing the quarterback in the gun with Carlson to his lap. Drops back. Looks he's going to look over the middle. He's going to chuck it over the middle. It's going to be caught. No, he dropped the ball. got dislodged again trying to get it to Russian. [cheering] >> Owen Russian was the attended target. There were two or three guys right there by Owen to dislodge the football from him. It'll be fourth down and 14. And so far Goodyu has not moved the ball much at all here in the third quarter. But they also have not given up more opportunities for Waterville. Allegian Morristown Luke Russian the punter kicks it. It's going to be well they kick it away from a returner. It's going to go out of bounds or not. Uh it'll be downed at the 40 30 37 yd line I think. 30 yd punt is down. >> So >> from the 37 yd line, it'll be first and 10. Waterville and Morristown. >> 4 seconds are left in this third quarter on the channel in Warsaw scoreboard. It is 1514. Gooderson's got a cramp in his right leg. I can tell by the way he's walking coming off the field here. Of course, he plays both ways. >> He's trying to stretch out that cramp. So he can't be in there as Taylor came to the sideline. You already got Athetherton out with an injury. [cheering] So Murphy's in the back field as he Taylor's going to take the ball go to the right. He's at the 40 and he'll be brought down at about the 45 yd line. [cheering] >> Taylor keeper. Yeah, he got brought down that time >> and that's the end of the third quarter >> by >> Oliver Bonner. Bonner is a junior 190 pounder. Three quarters are in the book, ladies and gentlemen. I would doubt that you have touched that radio dial. This is a good one. It is second down and three. The ball at the 44 yd line of Waterville Alleian Morristown. A fake handoff. Taylor's going to run off to the left and he trips up to the 49 yd line or 48. It'll be a first down. >> From the 48, it'll be first and 10. Waterville Alleian Morristown. >> Actually going to mark it at the 48. So a first and 10 from the 48. The chain guy still has third down on the chain. It should be first down. >> And nobody notices it yet. Now they change it. >> [cheering] >> So, it's first and 10 from the 48 of Waterville, Alisia Morristown. The power T. Taylor under center takes the snap. He'll hand it off to Murphy. Murphy off to the right. He's got some quick feet. Takes it down to about the 46 yd line. [cheering] >> So, a pickup of six on the play. It'll be second down and four. Second down and four. I think Bonner might have been in on that one, too. Yep. Oliver Bonner, the 63, 190 lb junior. And they're going to have a penalty. >> A face mask is called. >> Just the second penalty against Goodyu in this game. Only two have been Well, actually, the delay of games. I didn't write those down, did I? They've had four penalties. So the penalty is going to march it all the way down to the 31 yd line of Goodu. And again, they've been down here a couple of times, haven't been able to score. Einerson's the far man left in the power T here. Athetherton went down with an injury in the third quarter. Under center is Taylor. He'll take the snap. He'll hand it off up the middle and he's going to push his legs and pile >> Murphy. Murphy just runs right ahead. You got to have some strong legs. Just a little guy. On the stop that time >> for the Goodyear Wildcats was Jacob Melson. Melson is a 5'9 225 lb senior. Again, the team that does not win this game will see their season end. And it's a shame there. These are both two very good football teams. Well coached power T formation. Quick pitch left. They're going to try and get Murphy outside. He breaks the tackle and he gets brought down in the open field. That was a nice open field tackle that time cuz this young man has got some moves as making the tackle for the Goodyear Wildcats >> was Jackson O'Reilly again. That sophomore 1514 Goodu 1011 to go in somebody's season barring an overtime. Taylor under center power T formation right to left on your radio dial. Handoff goes to Murphy again. He follows Dyer and he'll take it all the way down to >> the 15. Maybe it's going to be another first down. I know that another first down. We're under 10 minutes to go in this game. First down Buccaneers. >> I thought we'd see more wishbone out of Goodyear than we've seen here tonight. They they brand that so well in that season opener that I saw against the Triton Cobras. And we'll see if they get back to that when they get the football. Right to left on your radio dial goes Waterville Legion Morristown. Fake handoff. Taylor's going to run up the middle. He's out in the open and he's going to take it down to about the seven or eight. [cheering] seven or eight picking his ankle to make the stop that time for good was Owen Russian the 5'11 155 lb junior they're going to mark the ball actually at the 10 >> gain of >> so it's going to be second and one from the the nine yd line got my binoculars on it it's the nine >> [cheering] >> again the power T formation and they've run it well. Handoff goes up the middle. Murphy's got the first down. He takes it inside the five and it'll be first and goal. They're in the Bower Remax realy red zone. Serving all of Minnesota. Daryl Bower Remax realy side is your sign for good things to come. Buccaneers first and goal from the five yd line. >> They are going to mark it at the five. [cheering] >> So first and goal from the five is Waterville Legion Morristown. Taylor is going to hand it off. Off to the left. Einerson. Is he going to get in? >> The players say they got in, >> but I don't think he did. >> He's going to take it down to the one. So it'll be second and goal from the one. [cheering] >> Actually, it's a little less than the one. It's about a football length to get into the end zone. 752. Clock's ticking on the doorstep of going ahead of the Buccaneers. Second and goal from the one. Taylor takes it. Goes right behind his center. He only had to get a football length in. >> [cheering and screaming] >> Nobody has signaled a touchdown yet. >> Taylor on the quarterback. No gain on the play. >> Well, they said there's no gain. >> Boy, I thought they got a little bit of a push on the line, but they obviously didn't. It'll be third and goal from the one. So far in this game, the Buccaneers have had multiple opportunities to score and have not been able to do so. Well, the Wildcats have had that bend but don't break mentality. So, here's third and goal from the one. [screaming] Taylor takes the snap, tries to dive into the end zone, and he does. Taylor scores. [cheering] >> A one-yd touchdown run. comes with 654 to go in the game and the Buccaneers have taken the lead. Now, the important decision, you go for one or two here. [cheering] They made one two-point conversion. They missed one [cheering] or they've made two and missed one. And it's No, I'm sorry. They've made one, missed one. They're going for their third here. And it looks like they are going for two. It's 20- 15. So a miss here means a just a regular touchdown would give Goodyear the lead. 654 to go in the game. Good has not had much offense this half. They did turn the ball over. If you heard our keys to the game interview with Tony Pomplet from Goodyu, number one thing, don't have turnovers. They have had a pick. They did have a fumble that didn't result in a turnover, but it did result in a loss of a lot of yardage. So, they're going for two. [cheering] Ball of course at the three. Hand off. They're going to Oh, he's going to pitch it out and he's going to easily walk into the end zone. Murphy, he's got that speed to get the corner. So Murphy with a two-point run >> and the Waterville Elian Morristown Buccaneers think they might be 6 minutes and 54 seconds away from the semifinals in a play where the big boys roam. US Bank Stadium. Good. Meanwhile, they're confident bunch. They know they got a good football team. They've got a lot of time left. 654 to go in the game. It's 2215 Waterlian Morristown on the channel in Warsaw School. >> Our Shambble Disposal Farbo is proud of the accomplishments of the Waterville Alicia Morristown Buccaneers football team. He's at the 40, the 45, the 50. He's going to break it into the middle of the field, take it down to the 41 yd line of Waterville, Elise, Morristown. He just picked that baby up off the ground and got those feet moving and takes it all the way down to the 40. Well, we'll see where they're going to put the ball down. They ultimately always make me a liar. >> Yep. Is going to be at the 42 yd line. So from the 42 of Waterville Alleian Morristown, >> Goodyu has very good field position here. Russian jogs to the sideline, comes back to the huddle. He's the one who made that return. Picked it up right around the 30 32 and took it all the way down to the 42 of the Buccaneers. [cheering] Two receivers left, two receivers right. They spread out that [music] defense. Russian is in the gun. He takes the snap, fakes the pitch, throws over the middle. He's got his man. It's caught and he's going to go all the way. It's going to be a touchdown. Owen rushing. A 42 yd touchdown pass. >> Beautiful fake. [cheering] A 42 yd TD. Owen >> Luke Russian to Owen Russian. [cheering] And that quickly, it's a one-point differential. Good [cheering] has got the kicker out there to tie the game, it appears, with 6 minutes and 33 seconds to go. What a game. Wow. It's become a track meet. Yeah, they're going to kick the extra point here and tie the game or try to. Everything's got to go right. The snap is a little high. The kick is up. He did get it down for him and it's through the uprights. 6 minutes 33 seconds to go in this game. >> Oh my, do we have a fantastic finish lined up here. Good 22. Luke Russian faked the quick pitch to Jack Carlson who ran out to the left like he was going to receive the pitch and then he threw a dart to Owen Russian in the middle of the field who broke away and ran in for the touchdown. Now the Buccaneers get the ball back. It's Murphy. Murphy's going to pick his way and take it up the middle of the field to about the 32 or three yd line and that's where Waterville Leian Morristown will have the ball. Lots of time left. We have a tie game 222 apiece. The Bucks would love to have about a five and a half or six minute drive ending in a touchdown. [cheering] And of course, Goodyu would love to get the ball back and take the go-ahead score. And we got a penalty on the ensuing kick. They're going to march them all the way back inside the 20. >> Buccaneers. >> Soccaneers. >> Another penalty. 15 >> and they get to start at the 15 yd line. [cheering] >> So from the 15 yd line it's first and 10 Waterlian Morristown. Handoff goes up the middle and he'll take it out to about the 18, maybe the 19. >> Murphy, they've gone more with him. He's just a quick tough guy. Second half. >> It'll be second and seven from the 18 as Athetherton went down with an injury in the third quarter. [screaming] [cheering] Coming out here. He had cramps earlier. 550 to go in this game. We're tied at 22. [cheering] Taylor's going to fake handoff one way, Murphy the other way, and going up the middle. [cheering] >> Breer's going to take it out to >> the first down necessary. I think I think I think he got to the 21. We'll see where they put the ball down. They're going to put it down at the 22 actually. >> So for the 22, [cheering] that was an excellent fake by Taylor. They faked me out of my binoculars. Taylor has the triple T behind him. The handoff goes. They got a trap play here and he gets brought down right now. Jumping on that ankle was Jack Carlson >> and it was Einson on the carry. >> Einson was on the carry and he got maybe a yard before Jack Carlson just glombmed onto that angle and brought him down. Like my old coach used to say, you can't run without your legs. 448 and counting. A 2222 game. Full house backfield. The triple T. The handoff goes again to Murphy up the middle. [cheering] Well, here we go. It's third down. trying to get a Marshall Brothers disposal stop. It's Taylor. He took too much time to bounce it outside. >> I don't think he's going to get me a yard. It's going to be fourth down. >> Fourth down and about three. >> Fourth down. >> Yeah, it's fourth and three. I don't think you want to go for this. We'll see what they decide to do here. It's going to be actually closer to four. 3 minutes and 26 seconds in counting. You don't want to give them the ball that the 33 or do you? They're going for it. It looks like they're going for it. [screaming] Oh boy. [cheering] Taylor under center trying to get him to jump offside here as he's barking out those signals. Good use staying disciplined. And no. Ah, that's what I thought they were trying to do. Time out. Waterville Alleian Morristown. Fourth down. [cheering] >> That was a fourth start, a false start. The ball's at the 24 yd line. 24 yd line. The wind kicking up a little bit here with 56 seconds to go in the game. Remember, Gooduse got a pretty good kicker. They're probably out of his range right now, but a field goal would win this football game because we're tied at 22. Balls at the 24 yd line of Waterville Legion Morristown. Bucks have two timeouts. Goodyu has three double receivers right double receivers left. Russian has his off throwing hand with a glove on. So you go on defense first when you win the coin toss in overtime. Both teams get cracks at it. Buccaneers will get the first crack at it. Balls placed on the 10 yd line. >> [cheering] >> They come out in a bit of a bone. Hand off goes to Murphy up the middle. He tried to strip him of the ball. He hung on to it >> on the stop that time for good you as he went right up the middle was Oliver Bonner. >> Gain of three. Second down. >> He takes it down to the seven. It'll be second down from the seven. [screaming] Second from the seven. They're in the Bower Remax realy red zone. Taylor under center. Power T this time. Handoff goes to Murphy again. He follows a big fella. Squirts through and he's going to go into the end zone for the touchdown. Sevenyd TDO >> overtime y. So Murphy scores from seven yds out here in the first overtime. [cheering] Now this is huge. The two-point conversion. 28-22 Buccaneers lead. If you just tuned in, we're in overtime. There are fans lining around the outside fence here in the Hastings. [cheering] >> Taylor comes under center. The power T. He's going to hand it off. No, he's going to keep it himself. Run up the middle. And he Did he get in? [cheering] Did he get in? They say he's down. It looked like he might have gotten in, >> but the officials say no, he did not get in. [cheering] >> Taylor thinks he got in, but the official says no. Wow. 2822. And now Good >> will get four cracks from the 10. And remember, they've got a a really good kicker. So, a six-pointer gets it to 28. If they score the touchdown, they would more than likely kick the extra point to head to US Bank Stadium next Friday. >> You can hear the Buccaneer fans yelling defense. [cheering] Russian and Russian are wide to the right. Carlson the only back. Handoff's going to go to home. comes back from a receiver to get the ball and he's going to get maybe two yards [screaming] to about the eight. Breer is there and also trolley. Who else? Conclusion of this game, we need to pick out our Wildcats of the game courtesy of the >> good folks at the Goodyu County Corn and Soybean Growers Association. Proud of their Goodyu teams. Receiver left, receiver right. Carlson again the loan back with Russian in the back field. Russian takes the snap, dropped back, looks, looks, throws it out to Carlson. And actually it short hopped on him. Carlson kind of looks back like, you know, I don't have fingers on my knees. >> So it'll be third down from the nine. Third down from the nine. This would really be a perfect spot for a a slant >> if you spread it out. Get some lanes right. [cheering] [screaming] They're yelling defense from the Buccaneer side. Russians going to come under center eye formation. He's going to fake the handoff. Roll to his right. He's going to throw to his right. He's got his man. Did he get in? They say yes. The pass is made and the touchdown is made. [cheering] >> Russian pass from Luke Russian to Owen Russian. >> So Luke Russian hits Owen Russian. Nine yd TD pass. And now they'll kick the extra point. And if they make the extra point, Goodyu is heading to next Friday. [cheering] We're tied at 28 and it looks like they are bringing the kicker out folks. It's a heck of a way to lose a game in the state tournament in overtime. Extra point kick was the difference in this one. Now I'm in a bad angle. So, you know, it looked to me like Taylor got into the end zone. Taylor thought he got into the end zone. Some of his teammates put their arms up in the air, but the official said, "No, no." And the difference in this one is an extra point kick by Goodyu, 29-2 in the overtime. [music] >> At Community Resource Bank, they're more than just a place to manage your money. The scoreboard's off. 2928. Good. We'll be there next Friday. I believe we'll get on the way at 4:15 if I remember. I had a 4:30 kickoff. Those don't always start on time at US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis. And my heart does go out and I would have said this had it been the other way around, too, to the Waterville Allegian Morristown Buccaneers cuz it's a memory that'll stick with them the rest of their lives. They had a couple of opportunities. You know, at the end of the first half, they had an opportunity to score and were not able to do so. So, you got to give all the credit in the world, tip your hat to the Goodyu Wildcats for stiffening up and not allowing them to get either one of those fade patterns to end the first half that would have given them possibly a lead at halftime. When Goodyune needed to get that touchdown late, they got it. They got the touchdown of course after Waterville Alleian Morristown scored, but they were not able to get the two-point conversion which left the door wide open for the extra point kick and the win to head to the semifinals next Friday. So let's choose the goody county corn and soybean growers goody players of this game. Carlson scored the first touchdown with 315 to go in the first quarter, a one-yd touchdown run. Russian threw a pass to Los with 426 to go in the half to put them ahead. It was Russian to Russian for the two-point conversion there. And remember, they won by one. Then they had a 42 yd touchdown pass. Just a thing of beauty. Russian outstanding fake to Carlson and then the throw over the middle to Owen Russian for the touchdown. So Luke and Owen connected in the touchdown in overtime too. Luke and Owen Russian are offensive players of the game courtesy of Goody County Corn and Soybean Growers Associations. and defensively. Going to grab my roster here and refresh my memory as to who I call the name a lot of for the Goodyu Wildcats on defense making all kinds of tackles today. Jackson O'Reilly was one of them. Ethan O'Reilly was another one [snorts] whose name we called quite a bit for the Goodyear Wildats. Senior Jacob Nelson also did a great job on defense for Goodyu and they will be our defensive players courtesy of the Goodyu County corn growers and soybean growers associations. Again, we'll be in Minneapolis next Friday to bring you the semifinal game. We'll let you know in the morning who they play. Will it be the defending state champions of Jackson County Central or will it be the Calonia Warriors who of course won section one and they've been coming on as of late. Whoever it is, it's going to be a tough opponent just as it was here tonight.
