It never fails, you plan and plan to create the perfect Christmas dinner for your family and guests, and at the last minute you think of something you forgot.

After a deep breath, you have two real options; decide you and your guests can live without it, or see if anyone's open on Christmas Day and make a quick run to the store.

If the inevitable does happen and you forget the butter, dinner rolls, or green beans; here's a handy list of who will be open for Christmas Thanksgiving 2024 for your last-minute shopping convenience.

Christmas Day 2024 Grocery Store Hours

  • Aldi: Closed (open until 4 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Cash Wise: Closed (open until 5 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Coborn's: Closed (open until 5 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Costco: Closed (open until 5:30 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Cub: Closed (open until 6 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Hy-Vee: Closed (open until 5 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Lund's/Byerly's: Closed (open until 4 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Target: Closed  (open until 8 pm Christmas Eve)
  • Trader Joe's: Closed (open until 5 pm Christmas Eve)

Are Liquor Stores Open on Christmas in 2024?

Christmas Day is one of two holidays throughout the year in Minnesota that liquor stores in the state must close, the other being Thanksgiving Day (and Christmas Eve after 8:00 pm). You'll be out of luck if you want wine with your turkey dinner, and you forget to buy it before 8pm Tuesday night. It's the law.
