Two Killed in Crash Outside Lake City

Lake City, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man and woman from Lake City were killed Friday in a crash that shut down a section of Highway 61 in Wabasha County for about 5 hours.

The State Patrol today identified the victims as 58-year-old Gary Dean Johnson and 59-year-old Cheryl Ann Schleicher. Johnson was driving a pickup truck south on Highway 61 when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound semi-truck. The deadly crash was reported around 11:30 AM several miles south of Lake City.

The State Patrol says a Rochester man, 58-year-old Richard Warnken, was driving the semi-truck. He was transported to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Wabasha with non-life threatening injuries.
