The Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism held their annual Business Awards Luncheon today at the Faribault Golf Club.  Various awards are announced including the Business of the Year.

AJ Smith, Trystar Chief Executive Officer told the Chamber in a video, "We are proud to be a member of the Faribault community for the past 30 years.  What started as a wholesale cable distributor three decades ago has turned into a industry leader of manufacturing of portable power distribution panels, cables. and other critical equipment."

Smith added Faribault has been a great place for the company, "Our employees are our most important asset.  As we've grown and expanded we've been able to add fantastic facilities in Faribault.  It's a great place for everyone to live and work."

Smith says the Chamber award is a tremendous honor.

Other Business of the Year finalists were Fitness in Motion and Reliance Bank.

Fitness In Motion has been in business since 1995, Reliance Bank opened in 2007.

Nort Johnson, President/CEO Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism told KDHL on a recent AM Minnesota program that an independent panel makes the selections for most of the awards.

The Chamber does choose a Volunteer of the Year. Scott Ozmun was chosen for his years of dedication to the Faribault Main Street downtown Car Cruise events.

Legacy Awards were given to Chappuis Jewelers in downtown Faribault for over 80 years and the Rice County Historical Society.  Started in 1926 to preserve the history of the community and Rice County.

H2C (High school to College) Partners Faribault Public Schools, South Central College, Faribault Chamber, Mayo Health System-Faribault and Owatonna, Allina Health Faribault District One and Owatonna Hospitals received the Excellence in Education Award.

Customer Service Awards went to Compcare Urgent Care, Wiebur Physical Therapy, Burkhartzmeyer Shoes, Dufours Cleaners, Gran Plaza.
