On Thursday afternoon a crash on I-35 in Rice County injured the driver of a vehicle. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 19-year-old Tucker Alstead of Owatonna was injured after rear-ending a Dodge pickup in Walcott Township shortly after 2:30 Thursday afternoon. 

The crash occurred at mile marker 51 on I-35 after a 2007 Dodge pickup being driven by 60-year-old Bruce Gustafson of Henderson had slowed down on Southbound for traffic that was ahead due to a crash blocking on the interstate.

Alstead was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion southbound on Interstate 35 and according to the Minnesota State Patrol report, Alstead at the time was traveling to fast for conditions and was unable to stop. Alstead's Ford then rear-ended the Dodge pickup.

Alstead was transported by ambulance with minor injuries to the Owatonna Hospital. Gustafson was uninjured in the crash. Road conditions at the time of the crash were reported to be wet.

Also responding to the crash was the Rice County Sheriff's Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, and MNDOT.
