Well, this is very random. The most filmed location for movies shot in Minnesota is definitely not what you think. It is a place that can be crowded, busy and at times treacherous. However, it's a place that also means adventure.

I came across a website that shares the spots that are filmed the most for movie productions in each and every state. Of course, places like California and Las Vegas have movie productions being shot at every moment. For places like Minnesota, it isn't something that happens everyday.

So what is the most filmed location for movies shot in Minnesota? The answer to that would be the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport! I can see it being used for a romantic movie like The Holiday but I definitely didn't think this would be the most filmed location for Minnesota movies.

The website is HawaiianIslands.com, which is clearly another popular place that movies and shows are filmed. How did the site come up with the MSP Airport being the most filmed movie location in the state? They pulled all the data for movies, television series and the like.

From there, they got to work and ditched actual cities. They wanted to find out actual locations and landmarks rather than a big city or neighborhood. They also axed any movie sets or movie magic that tried to recreate a certain state, focusing instead of sports stadiums, beaches and things of that nature.

I guess I have a lot of movies to catch up on! Duluth has been a hot spot for movie production over the last few years. We have had two holiday movies filmed in the Duluth area over the past year, with more productions underway in nearby places like Ely and Chisholm.
