I know this is not what people want to hear, but Southern Minnesota will likely encounter snow later this month.

According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, we can expect snow showers and cold weather starting October 8th through October 20th.

(If a look of despair or disgust is forming on your face, trust me, I'm right there with you.)

Kids may want to find Halloween costumes with lots of layers this year, as more snow is predicted toward the end of the month.

The winter forecast for the region is expected to be one of the longest and coldest we've had in a while. The National Weather Service confirms this prognosis, stating the probability of a La Niña winter is high. (In other words, we'll see colder temperatures and heavier snowfall than usual.)

So, get ready to enjoy the last few days of sunshine and warmth because they are numbered.

It looks like it's time to consider moving to Florida....
