The King Put On A Grand Performance
Last night our “Ryan Pelton: Tribute to the King” ticket winners, Wyatt Halverson and Ed Alanis, were treated to a night of Elvis at the Grand Event Center in Northfield. Ryan's vocals were spot on as he ran the gamut of Elvis Presley's career with each moment in his storied musical history punctuated with an appropriate costume change to match the time period. He chatted and playfully teased the audience throughout the performance, keeping the show flowing along and very entertaining as Ryan superbly re-created the Elvis experience. And he wasn't anchored to the stage as he moved about his adoring fans and interacted with them several times during the night, even taking time to kiss his a few of the ladies. His backing band was tight and his female back-up singer, Miss Amy, complimented his vocals and even stepped onto to the stage to belt out a tune during the show and was quite entertaining in her own right.
I really enjoy attending Elvis tribute shows and have gone to quite a few over the years. The music is instantly recognizable and the shows are always kept light and fun. I'd heard a lot of good things about Ryan's performance and was not disappointed, but to be honest, the other reason I went was to see Power 96's very own announcer, Andrew Gilbertson, perform. I'd never seen him playing the drums before and knew this would be a good chance. He is an amazing drummer and kept the show moving along, all while accenting Elvis's signature moves, which the ladies loved, by the way.
My wife and I had a wonderful night and were able to visit with quite a few friends we hadn't seen in a while. If you ever get a chance to see Ryan Pelton, make sure you do, you won't be disappointed.
